  1. Good. Fastball the same as last year, slider the spin rate and horizontal movement are up a bit vs 2023 and the drop is a bit less. Wonder if he reshaped it into more of a sweeper. Or at least something approximating a sweeper.
  2. I think a dumb team would trade some kind of decent piece for him IF he strings together some health and ostensible effectiveness. Yesterday Nate Pearson faced Wenceel Perez, Ryan Vilade, and Keston Hirua. The results/whiffs are kind of irrelevant. Spin rates this spring are down on his slider and fastball. IVB down like 1.5 points on his fastball... movement down on his slider. gulp.
  3. Pearson's velo was up yesterday but the ride was a bit worse His fastball still didn't grade out as an elite pitch despite being 98.5 I think if he has a stretch of good health and results I'd be trading him to a dumb team
  4. The fastball is a weapon. And his control was solid last year. If he has improved the breaking ball(s) a bit, and added a splitter he can mix in even 10% of the time... he begins to look like a real SP. Bit of a Joe Ryan package.
  5. it's okay guys, different generations
  6. meme but not a meme that tjstuff+ guy has his breaking ball as slightly above average and the fastball as a solid 98, giving him a respectable 99 tjStuff+ better than many decent MLB starters! I would guess that the command is below average though. Judging from the bb/9 in AAA and Korea. Also not sure if he has a usable third pitch. WES PARSONS!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Red Sox and Bello sign a six-year, $55MM extension that’ll give the team an extra two years of control. Seems unnecessary. Maybe it's "for the fans" in the wake of the Giolito injury. Like, they were sort of dicking around with it but then pulled the trigger because everyone wants them to sign a SP and they don't want to. Something else to talk about. Hey we did spend money this winter! We extended Bello!
  8. I think his MLB salary is guaranteed unless they cut him, then only 30 days of it guaranteed.
  9. Wes Parsons is popping on all the stuff+ metrics He's the talk of spring
  10. He just wants to be able to tell people his career was ended by an injury rather than a sudden loss of talent.
  11. Haven't seen any I'd love to see an overlay It looks like there is a significant reduction in foul territory, maybe 33% reduction. The seats and dugout look 5-10 feet closer to the infield now. The dugouts are bigger and further up the line. That jut out towards the OF corners is pretty sharp! It's going to produce some funny bounces, some balls hooked down the line might even bounce back towards the infield? Tough to say from that angle though.
  12. Manoah is going to have shoulder surgery to prove a point isn't he
  13. He's probably replacing the CF all the time Might be the only real CF near the majors, after Varsho and KK. Assuming Springer is done as a CF.
  14. Just not really any upside there, not very inspiring. He probably hits .265 with 13 homers in 450 PA, gives the team 1 WAR for 13 million, but does a lot of media bits and has a decent RBI count. Then he retires.
  15. Turner looks so f***ing old this spring. Just the shape of his... belly... and his face and s***. Geezer.
  16. I have zero interest in Vogelbach and Escobar and I don't really get it. Old f***ers that sucked last year. I mean, I get it if they are in here as fallback plans in case players get hurt. The awkward thing is that the FO needs to tell them they have a shot to make the team in order to sign them, even if it's not really true. So the Rogers mouthpieces also get fed that idea. It's hard to figure out what the FO actually intends. All I know is that we see this every year and I don't think there is a pattern of demoting the younger players for the sake of depth. Last year, Nathan Lukes and Zach Pop broke camp with the team. The year prior Greg Bird and Mallex Smith did not make the team. I dunno. Vogelbach doesn't even have a fun amount of game power, he just walks a lot and has 60 pop. Meh.
  17. Davis Schneider Travis Snider David Snider Travid Schneider Dravis Schreiber
  18. Didn't David Snider literally play a few games in LF last year?
  19. The Rockies guaranteed Charlie Blackmon, 37 years old, $13M It was hilarious at the time and now it is even funnier
  20. yeah we never know with these guys. all the reports say he is a sure-thing shortstop and one of the best defensive SS in the system, but that could be a -3 or a +10 for all we know. It sounds like a Santiago Espinal package to me. I watched some video of his swings, I don't think it's a NO POWER situation. But maybe an 8 HR pop situation. Ceiling something like .267/.322/.370 for a 100 wRC+ if everything works out and he develops enough raw power to even hit for average up here
  21. The 2022 crop, big year for them. R1 - Barriera, obviously needs to show his talent R2 - Kasevich, Toman, Doughty... I wonder if all three of these guys are being prematurely written off. Toman only has 549 MiLB PA as a high school pick. Kasevich hit .284/.363 and will be in New Hampshire... Doughty had an .801 OPS and will be in New Hampshite... they are all actual infielders. Still have a chance. R3 - Roden, does he make an MLB push mid-season and hold his own? R4 - Ryan Jennings, new sleeper for me, he is in camp throwing a 95mph sinker and a 94.5mph 4S with 17 IVB (decent) and throwing FOUR other pitches. Is this a guy with a solid fastball and a deep arsenal?????????
  22. His MLB salary is $4M, paid pro-rated for his time in the majors, I believe
  23. Lmao I went there too Love it
