  1. Trade?
  2. Cole But yeah
  3. He did this to himself bro Basically replacement level through 1/4 of the season I don't care about the up and down or the what have you done for me lately as much as I care about the holistic production which has gone too far south. 2024 blue jays = infinite sadness
  4. so you're calling me an idiot eh
  5. Hey, maybe he will have a positive influence on some guys like Schneider and Clement! who knows
  6. The JT signing probably had more to do with who was willing to sign here than much else. Who knows. Maybe guys like Pederson and JDM were being f***y and non-committal. He's just a guy who can square up the ball and pull flyballs often enough to be decent.
  7. The 2015 and 2016 Jays, almost the entire team liked to pull the ball and hit flyballs 2015 Jays, pull% rank = #2 flyball% rank = #7 2016, pull% = rank #4 flyball% rank = #5 2023 Jays pull% = rank 25 2024 = 28 2023 Jays flyball% = rank 16 2024 = rank 19 2021 Jays were top 7 in both categories. This team just has no f***ing identity. I guess they have tried to pursue short swing / contact hitters to the extent that that is basically the team identity right now? So it's a contact and defense oriented team, with negative baserunning because there are multiple fat f***s in the middle of the lineup? lmao and then a couple of divergent tank yankers sprinkled in there like Varsho and Jansen (thank god for them).
  8. This current offense just seems like such a strange assortment of players. It's like Ross has a personality disorder and one year he likes these kinds of guys and the next he thinks he needs to sprinkle a completely different archetype into the equation.
  9. Three geezers + one young man in the body of a bulimic woman
  10. AA gets a lot of unwarranted Jays fan flak for being "not analytical" But in reality, separating the wheat from the chaff is his job. 90% of the analytics product is probably worthless or not operable. If you are a junior analyst and he was shredding your reports, maybe you should have just locked in and made better reports. Be a better scientist.
  11. So Toronto has the lowest average bat speed (bad) BUT ALSO the shortest average swing length (good?) Both metrics are important I would assume. Fast swings that are too long are not necessarily good. Trying to pull up some more charts but the stupid statcast website is struggling.
  12. Daulton Varsho is an actual game breaker It's nice to have at least one good position player
  13. Ross Atkins is a charlatan. He is the 100 IQ meme personified. As an Economics major raised in Miami who played professional minor league baseball for five years, he was practically tailor made to schmooze and climb the baseball front office hierarchies. However, like most Economics majors and baseball players, he is full of s*** and gets by on fooling people more than anything. Not scientific, not actually rigorous or interested in the truth. Storyteller.
  14. There was some talk at the end of spring that they could have DV sign an "advanced consent" thing which basically means he is guaranteed a pro-rated chunk of the $2M but he consents in advance to being.... demoted/cut by the 45th day of the season and foregoing the rest of his salary. Dunno if they actually hammered it out that way though Also, we may be past the deadline who knows
  15. OR even - waiver claims or cash trades they could have trialed instead of him. Could have churned through like 5 guys over the last two years in search of a real player. Or signed a free agent who can do five pushups.

    NHL Thread

McDavid asked for it with that two handed chop The crosscheck to the face was kind of accidental, buddy didn't expect his buddy to shove McDouche down first Seeing as Sam Bennett sucker punched Marchand and gave him a concussion and did not get suspended or even fined, there should be nothing here
  17. Looking like Votto won't even play this year. He must have broken his ankle in 47 places. Also, Vogelbach may get forced off the roster sooner than that. I think they need to release him like TOMORROW or else his full $2M is guaranteed? I am surprised he is still here when Spencer Horwitz has a pulse.
  18. ugh biggio the only thing worse than biggio is fat biggio (dv)
  19. Are you being obtuse on purpose or does your brain just have slow think speed? None of the platoon splits so far this year are particularly relevant to the discussion, they are all also close to meaningless in the present sample sizes. Cavan Biggio has been struggling his whole life and he is almost a 30 year old man now. It is time for him to hang them up and let someone who can bench one plate swing the bat. Outside of baseball he could still be characterized as a young man. And he has the muscle mass of a tweenager. So I am sure with his family name and pointy face, he could make a good insurance salesman or something.
  20. Yes and he was right. Keith just didn't understand the value of literally not swinging. It turns out that simply staring at pitches go by can be worth something. Also, I bet Biggio looked better on these stats when he was younger. He used to be able to put up ISOs near .200 so he probably had more bat speed at 24/25. But he is 29 now and past his physical prime. Which was not much to see to begin with because he's a stick bug who obviously has some sort of chronic illness.
  21. You don't get it man Personally I would swap him for Barger immediately but that's not even the point The point is just that Cavan Biggio actually can't hit. Like, he has the physical tools of a mother of three, but without the child bearing hips. 104 wRC+ vs RHP is terrible by the way, he isn't even excelling at his one job Some of the projection systems already think Barger is a better hitter Certainly Spencer Horwitz is a better hitter. Interestingly Horwitz is getting some reps at 2B and LF recently. I wonder if they want him to supplant Biggio ASAP! I bet the front office is embarrassed about how Biggio looks on this new statcast bat tracking data. It is really embarrassing. It's like a photo leaking of your front office micropenis, basically. Ross is probably flustered.
