  1. Justin Turner rewarded for sucking by hitting 2nd then he goes 0-6 with five Ks and leaves 17 men on base Absolute poetry by John Schneider and the Blue Jays Can't DH your best hitter either! Gotta keep him fresh for the second half when he is a Chicago Cub
  2. Nobody wanted you to quit, you're just a soft soft man and had a little sudden urge to run away Not much of a villain!!!
  3. No reason Just really wanted to play IKF and KK and Biggio over him I guess
  4. No reason Just really wanted to play IKF and KK and Biggio over him I guess
  5. Start Biggio, get shutout by Maeda It just makes sense!!! I'm sure Davis Schneider really needed a day off
  6. Ew why the f*** is Biggio playing ew ew ew might not watch
  7. So let me get this straight! Daulton Varsho has to try and run to third and get thrown out for the ump to call interference on an infielder who actually blocks his path and prevents him from getting to third??? But that clip is interference on the baserunner even though it was incidental, minor, and had no actual effect on the play!? Funny how it was the O's on the other side of both plays. Conspiracy
  8. yeah he might as well have gotten his shots in flying elbow, takeout slide on the grass, break his kneecap or something
  9. Maybe someone will give you a godfather package of geezers though? You get like, Freeman + Sale + Tyler O'Neill or some s*** like that. Maybe not them specifically but you get it. Just pump the s*** out of your 14 man projection for the next year and a half.
  10. Would not do that trade A SS without any SB can be a tough own in category fantasy as you typically get 20 bags from SS 5x5 auction calc using Fangraphs DC ROS still has Carroll above Seager. 24th in projected dollar value vs 42nd for Seager. If I am dumping CC for a NOW performer I at least want someone who projects to be as good or better immediately and helps me in all categories. Not many of those guys.
  11. Just looks like a power projection lotto ticket
  12. I don't think it really changes their odds of getting the call OM has always had 3B on his resume they just focused in on 2B to begin this year for whatever reason SH would only be an emergency 2B for the Jays anyway. Really tough to see him getting a single inning there unless there are 2 major infield injuries ahead of him.
  13. We will know everything we need to know in a month. The rest of May is a cakewalk, 3 more against DET who are just okay then 3 against the White Sox again. 3 against PIT to turn the month over. So on June 3 Toronto should be closer to the playoffs in the standings. If they aren't it's over. But if they are they then have to do well from June 3rd on where it is: Orioles x4 Red Sox x6 Yankees x4 Guardians x6 Brewers x3 As x3
  14. I think the main reason he is doing better on pitches up is just plate discipline. O-Swing 2023: 32.4% O-Swing 2024: 26.2% Chase rate in 2023 was 51st percentile (28.1%) per statcast Chase rate in 2024 is 73rd percentile (23.4%) per statcast His K rate is actually worse in 2024 but I think the swing decisions are overall better. He's making less contact in the zone but sometimes that happens when you are doing more confident/aggressive swings. The flip side occurs when a player is lost and just fighting to put the ball in play all the time - you get this sort of artificial reduction in whiff rate which is not always a good sign.
  15. Everyone thought he would sign for like $60M. Modest AAV but some term to it because of his age. The actual $$$ number was shocking. Being said, I think he could still be sneaky good. Elite contact rate and the maxEV and hard hit rate so far lines up with some guys who have decent power. 109 maxEV and 41% hard hit rate is comparable to someone like Dansby Swanson or Lourdes Gurriel. But so far he has a contact rate in line with f***ing Luis Arraez... There is something there
  16. They do still pitch him high more often than others. By % he sees 24% of pitches high/away or high/inside, and then 12% in the upper third of the zone. Compare to Vlad = 15% total high/away or high/inside and only 9% in the upper third. So, 50% more pitches "up" than Vlad. But he did see slightly more pitches up last season. Interestingly he has good numbers on pitches high/away and high/inside (out of the zone), good wOBA and xwOBA this year and good wOBA on pitches in the high/middle portion of the zone. He has a dead zone low/away in the zone and a happy zone low/middle in the zone. Pitchers try to hit the dead zone but it's dangerous because you miss by six inches and you are in his hottest part of the zone.
  17. Biggio is finally, mercifully, a pure bench player
  18. Converted IF CF not his natural spot
  19. lmao at Varsho hitting seventh dude leading the team in homers and it's not even close and hitting f***ing seventh
  20. Jamie Campbell's dream come true
  21. - walk rate at career norm - k rate good (best of career) - baserunning good - defense FINE by OAA (0) and DRS (-1). UZR hates him this year. - BABIP of .220 - wOBA .257 vs xwOBA .309 Lots of things under the hood look fine. The not so fine things are specific: - maxEV, hard hit rate, launch angle, pull rate all down so he's either gone over the cliff with his bat speed and the maxEV, hard hit rate, launch angle, pull rate will just never recover OR he's just going through some sort of timing issue that might at least be partly fixable the fact that the K rate is good makes me think it's not just a simple loss of bat speed and even if he is f***ed in terms of power, he is not presently playing like a player who should be replacement level. .309 wOBA with okay speed and close to avg defense could even approach 2 WAR over a full season. Whit Merrifield last year was .304 wOBA, 1.3 WAR in 592 PA with slightly negative D
