  1. It's not rocket science Guillermo is the main hitting coach and Mattingly is the offensive coordinator or whatever and the big persona on the bench. Mattingly is on record saying that "damage is a scary word." Mense and Hague are minor employees. They probably don't even have the authority or control to bear any of this responsibility. They may be good or bad, it doesn't even matter. Martinez and Mattingly NEED to f***ing go. If the org keeps the other two, whatever. They might be decent lower level hitting coaches who would help underneath a proper system. The MUST BE FIRED list for me would include: Atkins, Schneider, Mattingly, Guillermo Joe Sclafani: Director, Player Development Shane Farrell: Director, Amateur Scouting And maybe Lacava and Tinnish. And of course any other bad seeds in the scouting, player development, baseball operations, advanced analytics, advanced scouting / game prep departments.
  2. They don't even have a single good healthy reliever right now
  3. Yeah he looks like a real asset just wonder how good the D is? if it's slick, Bo should be traded 100% f*** his performance and waiting for a rebound he still has his entire track record, he has good value
  4. If it was JUST the offense underperforming I could still see a sliver of hope but with the bullpen being completely toast, Berrios pitching like an SP5, Gausman like an SP3.... no f***ing shot this year at all Spencer Horwitz might lead the team in WAR in 350 PA The funny thing now is that the offense actually should not be that bad going forward. They can sort of roll out 8 or 9 above average hitters most nights. wRC+ Horwitz 2B - 197 Varsho CF - 103 Schneider LF - 115 Jansen C - 109 Vlad 1b - 125 Turner DH - 109 IKF 3B - 108 Bo SS - 87 but should be better than that c'mon Pretty much just RF that is questionable, Springer looking like a corpse and Barger being a hacker. I say just play Barger of course, he's having okay PAs most of the time and hitting the ball hard. Barger 99 projected wRC+, Springer 104 to 110 but projections lag.... I'd be money that's a top half offense rest of way! lmao
  5. The one thing you never know is how much of the stat-sheet power is actual pop and how much is legs Some guys can run a near .200 ISO in the minor leagues on legs alone. Just legging out doubles and triples and getting infield hits. That's the main concern with Jimenez. Could just be Santiago Espinal with a bit more speed. Although, he's not a speedster by SB or BABIP or scouting grades so maybe he really does just have 50 power and the scouts who put a 40 on his raw power were wrong??? Or, steroids.
  6. Everything Atkins does either SUCKS or feels like it sucks until you drink the kool-aid and convince yourself that it did not suck. Which, to his credit, sometimes the kool-aid is right. Turner - sucks. no kool-aid. IKF - feels sucky. but the kool-aid is right. Varsho trade - feels sucky, trading #1 prospect for .220 hitter, but maybe the kool-aid is right because Moreno is meh. Teoscar trade - feels sucky, kool-aid tasted okay last year, then Swanson retired to AAA and it doesn't taste as good but wait Adam Macko kool-aid is coming! Springer - The inverse Atkins. Exciting and feels good at first, but the kool-aid is rancid. Bassitt trade - feels sucky. innings-eater kool-aid takes the edge off though. Berrios trade/extension - feels sucky, then kool-aid of innings eating helps, then he gets hammered because he's an SP4 and it feels sucky again Kikuchi - feels sucky, did suck, then he made his own kool-aid One of the only things he has done that just seemed good right away and has been great was the Gausman signing. Everything else is either ick or feels ick at times. Just a bunch of f***ing icks.
  7. Jackson Merrill age 20 in AA 104 wRC+, 11.8% K rate, 8.5% walk rate age 21 in MLB 122 wRC+, 16% K rate, 5% walk rate Good example of why age vs. level and plat disc. stats are so f***ing important It is possible to be a complete stud, borderline franchise player, and only have a 105 wRC+ or so in AA
  8. Stuff isn't good
  9. The Os ran 28th and 30th ranked payrolls in 2019 and 2020 Toronto would not have to be that bad. They could make all the obvious player sales and do a 2-3 year rebuild but still have a moderate payroll and try to get extra value through free agency. Sign imports like Y Rod. Compete for guys like Imanaga. Basically they could rebuild and still be a WC3 hunting team in theory.
  10. Closer to the Angels than WC3 lmfao
  11. Springer hitting 4th is insane We are being trolled
  12. Yeah the only good paths are massive losing streak or massive winning streak

    Wow.
  14. I think the issue there is Atkins The GM only gets to play that "fire the coach" card one time
  15. Time for the... third? closed door meeting of the year!!!
  16. Yes it might be the worst one this year The list of fringe MLB pitchers who have just carved this lineup up this year is wild
  17. Wow omg wow Vlad pulled a 4S for a homer
  18. Tommy Pham should be even cheaper next year!!! Maybe Charlie Morton will keep pitching and come to Toronto who are the oldest pending free agents? Scherzer, Votto, Turner, Morton, Robertson, Ottavino, Jesse Chavez. Cutch says he wants to play next year.
  19. The go for it in 2025 roster C - Kirk 1B - Vlad 3B - IKF (SS/2B) SS - Bo 2B - Horwitz (1B) LF - Schneider (2B) CF - Varsho RF - Springer (CF???) DH - Orelvis? BN - backup C, Clement (SS/3B/2B), Barger (LF/RF/3B), Lukes (OF) SP: Goose, Bassitt, Berrios, Y Rod, Tiedemann, Macko, Francis RP: Romano, Green, Pearson, Richards, Mayza, Swanson, Cabrera, Pop, Little, Danner, Burr, Eisert, Juenger, Cooke, Pardinho I feel like if they want to run it back they need: - multiple good relievers - an SP2 and SP5 - a big bat - another OF option. need to insure the Springer position better and/or get a true backup CF that isn't 30 year old Nathan Lukes Honestly very similar to what was needed this offseason, which they did not pull off. If they don't tick all those boxes they are kidding themselves. And two big bats would be better lol.
  20. It is interesting There are arguments for keeping Gausman or Berrios, or even extending Kikuchi Mr. Atkins could trade Goose and extend Kooch Or trade Goose and Kooch and hold Berrios Or trade Berrios but keep Goose since he has more upside They could trade Bassitt to dump the $$$ but will more likely keep him because he has no trade value and innings will be needed Lots of possibilities And they will do the dumbest combination of things no f***ing doubt
  21. The Brewers have been rolling out some real dirtbags lately Joe Ross, Colin Rea etc. And it works!
  22. Everyone in the Jays rotation other than Kikuchi is a ticking velo loss timebomb Take 1 mph from Berrios, Bassitt, or Gausman and they will start getting f***ing destroyed If the team is re-tooling you can justify trading literally all of them and then just signing short term SP replacements One of the only things Toronto has been good at is acquiring and fixing SP. Lean into that one f***ing organizational skill. They don't need to clutch their pearls about veteran innings...
  23. Kikuchi definitely first to go I think trying to just dump Bassitt's remaining money would be #2 for me There are then arguments for trying to get value for, and get out of the contracts for, both Gausman and Berrios But at that point you start to wonder who is even starting games for the Jays over the next 2-3 years lol I feel like Gausman's Ace allure is unfortunately gone with the velo drop and teams will be MUCH less interested in giving up premium pieces for him on that contract. Sadness.
