    There are three levels of rebuild that Toronto could do: Level 1 - the 2025 retool. Trade Kikuchi and Jansen. Trade Yimi if healthy. Try to get out of Turner, KK money. Consider trading Bassitt if there is a taker. Then replace them all with new FA talent in the offseason. Level 2 - the Vlad/Bo bailout - Trade all of the above along with Vlad and Bo. The same general plan applies, try to replace everybody with FA talent over the next couple of years, but the odds of winning in 2025 probably go down a lot here with the tradeoff being getting some possible cornerstone prospects back for the big guys. Level 3 - scorched turf - do all of the above except for the FA reload. Get out of all big contracts, Guasman and Berrios are gone. Varsho gone. Kirk gone at some point. Pearson dumped. Consider trading some of the Buffalo guys even, if some other team really likes one of them. Some would be replaced with free agents but not all of them. Payroll takes a dive, luxury tax reset. Realistically no shot to compete for a couple of years.

    Unfortunately business considerations would prevent anything close to this from ever happening. They just did all the new renovations, a $300M investment that needs to be paid down. Need some players to market. Need some butts in the new seats. Need some people watching on TV.

    Strider is pretty boring. Two great pitches but it's like watching a closer throw bulk innings.

    It's a weird situation. The more casual fans would pay more attention for more of the season, I guess, but the more hardcore fans are probably somewhat annoyed by how many mediocre teams there are. In the AL there are: 3 obviously bad teams something like 8 mediocre teams that are either in a WC spot or think they have a chance still only 2 very good teams IMO, NYY and BAL (not calling Cleveland and Seattle "very good" right now) In the NL there are NINE teams within 1.5 games, spanning from WC 2 all the way to the Reds who are 3rd last in the NL but only 1.5 games back of a playoff spot All of these teams are actually BELOW .500 lmao. Nats and Cards sitting in WC2 and WC3 a game under .500 lmfao Hardcore fans of most of these mediocre teams are NOT happy right now, unless they were the Nats/Tigers or whoever who had zero expectations heading into the season. Toronto - miserable Houston - miserable Texas - miserable Tampa - no fans anyway Cardinals - misery Padres - misery DBacks - misery Cubs - misery Giants - misery Mets - perpetual misery Reds - sadness

    The only remaining hope is the Rogers Board of Directors. There is a clear conflict of interest between Atkins/Shapiro and the organization generally. Their best interests do not align. The BOD needs the gumption to recognize that and act on it. Extend Atkins/Shapiro for the next decade so incentives are aligned!
