It will go both ways.
Certain pitches that NEVER get called a strike but clip the zone will get called a strike. That will be s***** for hitters and piss them off. Think, hanging curveballs that clip the top of the zone.
But other pitches that OFTEN get called a strike but do not touch the zone will rightly be balls. How many times to the Blue Jays RHB get f***ed over, per game, by pitches away or down and away that are clearly off the plate?
Hard to say how it will balance out. The called strike zone is an oval (or rectangle thingy with rounded corners) and the rulebook zone is a rectangle.
