  1. Where to go with Kaz Okamoto? From a coaching perspective It seemed like Toronto considered him to have a better hit tool and better athleticism The criticisms of his defense may have been accurate. And he's slow. The whiff rate is concerning. But the power is very real and probably better than anticipated. This doesn't look like a .265 hitter who might hit 15-20 home runs. Gives me Matt Chapman flashbacks offensively
  2. That's wild I assumed he was a two inning hero
  3. One thing that doesn't make sense to me is that Rogers does not have the most innings in the pen. They've used Varland, Fisher, and even Miles more. Why isn't the guy with the rubber arm being used like an 80 IP reliever? I get that there have been some blowouts but he should be getting 2 inning assignments
  4. The pitches that they hit weren't even bad pitches Just hitters guessing right
  5. When was the last time Vlad hit one into the flight deck? Okamoto might hit 40 some day
  6. f*** yeah. Sort of surprised he's not bumping Max Scherzer. Lauer is probably better than Scherzer. Maybe some 3500 K politics here. Or maybe they need more time to line it up, perhaps Berrios and Scherzer's throw days line up?
  7. The IL / hurt situation is wild Alejandro Kirk George Springer Addison Barger Nathan Lukes Trey Yesavage Shane Bieber Cody Ponce José Berríos Yimi García Lazaro Estrada Tony Taters Bowden Francis Ricky Tiedemann Jake Bloss Jeff Hoffman (at least has a bruised ego) Eric Lauer (no balls) Max Scherzer (geriatric f***)
  8. Sucks to have the off day sort of wasted by needing to use so many RP yesterday
  9. Latin America Twitter is saying Pinango is up Assuming Lukes to the IL
  10. Valenzuela is probably better even if he strikes out 35% of the time
  11. Spooner Miles is going to have to soak 3+ innings
  12. The Blue Jays bullpen is bad by WPA -1.59 is the fourth worst figure in MLB But Jeff Hoffman alone is -1.65, hilariously. If Joffman didn't exist they'd probably be 12-12 (The Jays pen was good by WPA in 2025 and decent to very good in 2026 by most meaningful measurements)
  13. Sanchez tonight for me
  14. What kind of mental illness is it that makes people think that anyone who replies to them and disagrees with their opinion is "triggered"? Some sort of personality disorder, most likely Tommy Nance has like, +1 fWAR in 63 innings as a Blue Jay. Complaining about his mere existence in the bullpen is a good way to label yourself as someone who doesn't know a lot about modern baseball.
  15. It's not some kind of genius insight to say that if they had better players they would have a better record. If they had better hitters they would have more wins, too. I don't know what some of you even want the guy to do differently, in terms of process. He: Acquired Varland, who is elite Signed Rogers, who is elite Developed or found Fluharty and Fisher Found Little who was elite for half a season Spent capital on rentals like Seranthony when needed Cut ties with guys like Green or demoted Y Rod when it made sense Has successfully cycled through helpful backend guys like Mantiply It's like your entire critique is that they signed Jeff Hoffman and he sucks and therefore Atkins is terrible at bullpens. I guess he should have swung again and signed Edwin Diaz or Devin Williams this past offseason?
  16. I was expecting Sean Keys to be leading AA in wRC+ but he is surprisingly not. Franklin Arias might be a problem. 20 years old, destroying AA with godly contact rates. Several Jays farmhands are in the top 12 for all of the affiliated minor leagues, by qualified wRC+ Peyton Williams must be rehabbing? Cunningham and him need to be in AA tomorrow. Geezers. What got into Tucker Toman? Did something click last year for him and nobody noticed after 2+ years of futility? He had a 125 wRC+ from June 1st on, in 2025. 139 wRC+ from June 1 2025 to present. He is still not ancient, but on the edge of relevance for age vs. level as far as actual prospects go. 17. Can't listen to the audio but mailing cards to players for signatures does seem like something from the past. Nowadays these guys sign thousands of signatures for Topps etc., under commercial agreements. In the old days you could mail a player a card and they would probably appreciate having such a good fan. And they didn't just sign 1000 baseball cards on the weekend. Just a different era. Sad though.
  18. Were they though? His Stuff+ by game is 90, 79, 85, 87, 78 He only had four games all of last season with Stuff+ in the 80s, and zero below 87 So these last four games are his worst Stuff+ games over his entire Blue Jays tenure (and perhaps his whole career) Unless he has mono, I am not sure what the narrative is. I can buy the flu for a start but the tape is weird. What is going on?
