    The pitching strategy worked great today until Hoffman blew it. Yimi, Fluharty, and Green should all be able to throw tomorrow if necessary.

    Hoffman's splitter is the problem. Ball Ball Ball Homer Then he puts it away and gets three outs. I said this a week or two ago. Time to just scrap it for the year. I don't know why they are obsessed with it.

    worst to best who would have thought it could happen I mean everybody liked the Hoffman signing and it was hard to complain about Yimi but the Little and Fluharty emergences have been massive And we might be seeing another random emergence in Fisher who seems to have two plus breaking balls. Plus Y Rod throwing well. Sandlin coming back. Depth! and Whiffs! Depth and Whiffs!

    It's not about options - Roden and Clase have already been optioned this year so both have used an "option year" no matter how many times they are up an down They just think Roden needs time to develop. And maybe think Clase is a better fit for now as a bench OF.

    Funny how your perception of a player like Lukes can develop. I used to think of him as a decent defender without much stick. Now it is obvious that he is more like Roden or Wagner. Just an older, more refined version. Puts the bat on the ball, with a feel for the barrel, with middling power and mediocre at best defense. I wouldn't expect him to homer at this rate going forward but it seems like he should put up competitive at bats.

    Grayson is a kid who had shoulder problems last year Bradish literally had TJS and was known to be out for most of this year Eflin has never eaten innings, had shoulder problems in 2024 and chronic knee issues for years in Philly Those are nice names if you are putting together a 10 man rotation like the Dodgers. Glass cannon tactics. Not really smart to put them ahead of seven Kyle Gibsons, though. That's just asking for exactly what happened to the Orioles this year. When your injury prone and high-risk SP get hurt, you can't call it bad luck.

    He was one of the most popular sleepers entering 2024 on the strength of his peripherals but he legit sucked in his first few weeks of 2024, with a measly 8.7% K-BB%. His K/9 was more like 9 and he was walking 5.55 per 9 and getting hammered as well. I almost dropped him in the DDL. You don't get unlucky and have a 2.22 WHIP for that long.     Hunter Brown was horrendous to start 2024 and had a 5+ ERA the prior year. There was a point in time where it was totally valid to think he might not be very good.

    Pitching gameplan and execution were incredible. Good job, John Schneider. Walking the hurt and struggling .187 hitter to pitch to the .261 hitter that puts everything in play, when a single loses the game for you, was a dumb tactic.

    Yeah the actual value of the contract is only $14M per season. They Jays quite literally are not even paying him the market rate for a 2 WAR player over 5 years. I'm sort of expecting him to suck all year but bounce back in 2026.

    Hoffman has a 6.05 ERA and a 1.62 xFIP He has the best xFIP in baseball of everybody with 10+ innings! Last night was f***ed. Threw one good splitter to Walls then hung the rest of them outside to Jankowski, who wanted to leave the bat on his shoulder. Lucky hit by Jansen. Decent contact by Simpson that is a double play with normal defensive alignment - left a fastball in the middle of the plate though. Hangs another splitter to Lowe. Then throws a couple of good sliders to Caminero before hanging the home run pitch. I don't really know what is going on. Nothing? Just bad luck? Pitch selection issues? There is an argument to made that he should dial down the splitter and lean more on his FB-SL. Save the splitter as something to surprise lefties, maybe throw it 10% or 15% of the time. Can't be throwing something 27% of the time if you have nights like this where you have a 1/7 execution rate on the pitch.
