  1. Motte, Hudson, and Venters were all in my top five like twenty picks ago.
  2. Maybe a better, more simple bet - will Goins get 550 PA? (or 500) If he sucks then he won't (in extreme likelihood). If he doesn't blow chunks then he probably will.
  3. The reasons why people aren't and will never be Darrells are for Darrelly eyes only.
  4. Gibbers picks Welington Castillo. A fine choice. Was kind of hoping he'd make it through the draft so I could stash him at some point. Thehurl is still up. Someone email him.
  5. That actually seems like a pretty fair bet. You should really throw a PA cutoff on it though.
  6. Reason #12 why you'll never be a Darrell...
  7. I think they both suck, so I would just take whoever fills the bigger hole on your team. With Peralta, I think you get a 4.xx FIP pitcher that, if you're lucky, Lucroy frames into a 4.00 ERA guy with a middling amount of K's, and below average (for fantasy) OBPA and K/BB. You can get similar pitchers on the waiver wire throughout any given season. Lorenzo Cain could go 10/20 with a 100 wRC+ (think .260/.320/.400), but those are mediocre numbers and CF is not thin in fantasy baseball right now. Honestly, I think you can get more for Peralta than Cain, based on the fact that Peralta is young, seems promising, and SP can get pretty thin in deep leagues. I would continue to shop Peralta but look for something a bit better.
  8. We were talking about popping prospects during the season as soon as they hit AA
  9. There aren't many talents that I'd waste a spot on. I'd take a guy like CJ.E, sure, but I'd value an SP7 over most else. But, my NA slot will also likely be filled with Bauer or Bradley Jr., so that factors into it.
  10. Yeah that's a pretty gross delivery right now. Honestly looks like a right handed Juan Perez, lmao.
  11. I actually meant to address this at some point, so thanks for bringing it up. I guess we need an arbitrary rule. Definition of played = he does enough to register 1 in the 'G' column on baseball reference. So getting in as a pinch runner or defensive sub would suffice. If a player gets promoted to AA and does enough to register a game played ('G' on BR), then they can be added as soon as 3 AM on the next calendar day PST. So 6 AM EST on the next calendar day after the day the AA game in which the player played began. These times were picked so that all games would probably be over.
  12. BR has that s***
  13. Specifically because you asked, twenty four hours. Pick 98 will disappear in 24 hours if you haven't picked someone. And as dinger said, moot point. Free agency is open at some time shortly after the last person picks anyway. I'm thinking midnight after the last person makes their waiver pick, everyone can start adding dudes if they want. I might not bother putting every free agent on waivers.
  14. It's called probability. There is a lopsided chance that he hits about as much as Johnny Mac. Any expectation above that is nothing but blind, retarded optimism, rooted in ignorance, and coming from the mouths of people whose breath smells like swiss cheese crackers.
  15. Maybe if he gets more aggressive he'll be able to hit as well as Johnny Mac? We can only hope.
  16. Are you implying that his weekend in Kevin Seitzer's guest room didn't improve his offensive projections? And you call yourself a fan...
  17. The gGeneral fan population seems to be pretty split on current defensive metrics. I wonder if metrics based on this new tracking info will be more palatable to the masses, especially if we are lucky enough to have this information infect our TV broadcasts in real time. When fans can see and be told in real time that Matt Kemp's jumps and routes suck, or that Jeter's first step is terrible, it will help. Might also help gold glove idiocy!
  18. Perez tore his elbow ligament last year but opted for rehab over TJS. He's still rehabbing, apparently. So he gets "cut" today, and he'll probably get cut literally in a month or two.
  19. Think about how awesome MLB.com Gameday will be, or could be, when this finally rolls out. Laptops will become a mandatory TV viewing accessory for all baseball nerds like us.
  20. Sammy picks Santiago Casilla, one of the obvious top HLD choices still on the board. The next ten up are: 64 Boxy 65 JaysFever 66 Spanky 67 GeorgiePeach 68 SpeedyGose 69 JaysBlue 70 Hurl 71 Havok22 72 Silvergun 73 Dinger Gibbers is on vacation so we might hit a wall at his pick. Expect to wait 12 hours for Spanky, and then another 12 or so for Gibbers.
  21. Didn't we watch Juan Perez die on live TV last summer? No, that was Ortiz.
  22. Let's go with 4.38 Has he been emailed? He was on proboards this morning but failed to pick...
  23. I don't even know what a petabyte is.
  24. Seven TB per game. Hoooooooleeeeeeeeeee fawk. The system is integrating a whole game worth of video and tracking data from multiple angles, so I guess it wouldn't be too hard to imagine someone creating a way for the useful data output to be much, much smaller. Turn everything into raw numbers, remove the useless information, etc.
