  1. Prince for Kinsler has apparently been agreed to. Wow? True?
  2. Actually, it looks like he pretty much breaks even. Based on his last 2 seasons, he's about a -15 run 3B. Based on his career he's a -2 run 1B. The positional adjustment from 3B to 1B is -15 runs, I think. Close enough to call it a wash. His WAR shouldn't change much at all by sliding over.
  3. "One person involved in the talks called it a "possibility"." I wonder what the actual quote was... "Well, I guess there is an extremely remote, minute possibility that it could happen, but...." EDIT - and 2 minutes after I post this, there are reports that it's actually happened. LMAO.
  4. The official forum was grossly outdated and poorly moderated, so we had a revolution. This place is much better, abandon your old forum account immediately. As per the ARod topic, I think you're basically spot on. It's a witch hunt and he's Melissa Joan Hart. MLB/Selig are making the rules up as they go.
  5. For Appy league pitchers with at least 20 IP, he was THIRD out of 127 in looking K%, 54th out of 127 in swinging K%, and his swinging to looking K ratio (KS/KL) was the 7th lowest in the league (out of 127). He lead the league in looking strikeouts, and he had the 11th lowest BB% in the league (min 20 IP). So yeah, a very high relative percentage of his strikeouts were of the looking variety. Pounds teh zoneeeeeee
  6. This is certainly a feel good list. Seeing Stroman over guys like Soler and Moran is very, very encouraging. And seeing Sanchez ahead of some of those other names is even more pleasing, even if I don't necessarily agree with taking him over a position player like Austin Hedges who has such amazing D at a premium position.
  7. If you've seen him pitch and you don't think he has a real strong swing-and-miss offering, then it's probably a fair criticism. It's probably entirely possible to get swings and misses in rookie ball by simply being smart and sequencing your pitches well. It also looks like he does get a high% of looking strikes, according to MLC, which may or may not mean something.
  8. Chase didn't seem exactly pleased by your criticism, haha.
  9. It's nice when the incredibly obvious things in baseball actually come to fruition. I think nearly everyone expected JJ to sign with SF, SDP, or PIT on a 1 year deal. Surely another NL team if not one of those three. I like how the JJ camp explicitly reached out to SD and SF.
  10. These are all really good suggestions. I'm not a huge fan of the font myself, for one thing. It does some goofy stuff with numbers in particular.
  11. "First time post, let me know what you think" thought I was on /r/gonewild....
  12. ahem. It's the Prime Minister's Trophy.
  13. Angrioter, you got relegated from the PL. You don't have the bona fides to comment on DDL business. This is all, easily, two leagues above your head.
  14. Gordon, Zobrist, Ethier, Belt, Nava... even Wright to a degree. My team is alllllll slashline, no produkshun. Could really use 20 and 40 SB from Bradley Jr and Villar next year. Also, 20 and 20 HR from Hart and Quentin would be nice. And then Brandon Belt could be a peach and put a few more runs on the board. That would all be swell. Sigh. Need moar toolz.
  15. Please give me a solid example of how signing a big FA fish has ever helped a team move forward from a crummy situation where the in-house talent isn't good enough, the farm is mediocre at best, and the financial situation is near the upper limits. Angels fans were probably pretty happy when that team signed Pujols, CJ Wilson, and Hamilton, right? That's THREE big fish, and all they did was help the boat sink quicker. AA needs a bucket, not a lunker. Start bailing water (eg. making responsible decisions) and maybe the SS Anthopoulos won't sink.
  16. We actually own that place. ECJF manages it for us.
  17. And it's Darrells, not Daryls. God.
  18. The February cut-down date applies to both MLB and MiLB rosters. This is the deadline to cut down to 20 roster players AND 12 prospects. If you were thinking of keeping 20 MLB players and then having a window to promote some prospects before you had to cut your minor league roster down, that would not be possible. You would have to promote those excess prospects into your top 20 MLB dudes at the cutdown. The waiver draft takes place after this happens and after Yahoo opens up. Basically, we assign the 400 keeper players to our 20 league teams, and almost everyone left over in Yahoo's available players list is eligible to be waiver drafted, save for owned prospects and minor leaguers who haven't touched AA. Waiver draft will probably take place in a thread on proboards, like we did our prospect drafts.
  19. Saying that Toronto "should have just traded for Latos" is incredibly stupid. Please stop doing it.
  20. The Blue Jays need more Jeffs. Agree or disagree?
  21. I can certainly see why the Cards would want Reyes, but it's so hard to see it happening. I'm not even sure if they could fit his full salary on their payroll right now. I think their situation is pretty tight, but I'm not sure. I'm certain that Toronto would be sternly rebuked if they asked for either of Miller/Taveras, let alone both of them. The Cards would likely give up Martinez to get Reyes, if they have the payroll space, but Martinez alone probably isn't enough to make it worth it for Toronto. What else could St. Louis add? Maybe they could put Allen Craig in the deal, since 1B isn't big enough for him and Matt Adams, and it would free up a bit of payroll space. But then Toronto has a hole at SS and they're trying to win in the present... Anyways, it's all moot because Reyes is almost certainly on AA's "untouchable / would not trade" whiteboard magnet list.
  22. These are video game trades. C'mon.
  23. I really don't get what there is to not like about it, unless he thinks it will lead to diminished stuff, which I wouldn't be able to comment on obviously. You could understand why a less violent delivery might take a bit of life off of his pitches though. Or maybe he's just not a fan of that type of mechanical tinkering in general.
  24. Man, his delivery seems exceptionally clean and easy in the AFL.
  25. I forgot that Magglio Ordonez was even a person
