Weise was a point-per-game player his last year in junior and he was a 50 point guy while still pretty young in the AHL. Also he had a sweet pass last night on the GWG. He's legit!

I busted my pick/prospect nut for Parise and Foligno, but I'd definitely be willing to move some decent young guys like Helm, Anisimov, Tennyson, Bennett, Paquette, Weise, Hagelin, Stewart for small upgrades since I have a decent chance to make the playoffs somehow.

MLB players + waiver picks just have to be = on both sides of the trade so that everybody ends the waiver draft with 25 roster players.

I think those are from one year ago. I'm guessing that he lost something like ~30 pounds, but has ballooned back up this offseason.

On second thought, we have always been a league that has erred on the side of sensible and simple rules. I think we'll just keep it status quo. If they aren't in Yahoo's system at the start of the draft, then they aren't eligible. All that remains is to decide if we should explicitly state that international 'prospects' who were subject to international spending limitations be ineligible for the waiver draft regardless of whether or not they were in the system. I only suggest this because I feel like it sort of compliments the "AA" rule that we already have in place for domestic, unowned prospects. (I don't think this matters for anyone this season).

That's a good creative solution. Have terrible plugs with NA listing be 'deemed' players for guys like Iglesias.

There are a couple of guys who signed MLB deals, not subject to spending limits, in the last year but they aren't in the database yet. The question, really, is what do we want to do with them, and a hypothetical Olivera signing which occurs just before our draft. The fairest process of talent distribution has us putting them in the draft now, but since they aren't in Yahoo it's kind of annoying for obvious reasons. Yahoo doesn't really put the young guys in the system so a 'database' or 'contract' based rule would both do the same thing for the kids like Moncada.

New rule: Only players that have been added to the Yahoo database prior to the beginning of the draft will be eligible. The lone exception to this rule is international free agents who have signed MLB contracts before our waiver draft begins, were not subject to international spending limits, but are not yet in Yahoo's system. Such players could reasonably be expected to spend a significant amount of time in the major leagues during the upcoming year so they will be included in our waiver draft.

I don't know if we've every decided on this rule, but is everyone in agreement that international free agents who are young enough to be subject to international spending limits (Moncada, Yadier Alvarez, Yoan Lopez, Roberto Baldoquin) are not Waiver Draft eligible? That's our line in the sand, right? Have we talked about this before?

Yup, KK owns him and kept him (list posted here). He accidentally selected Dan Hudson as a keeper on Yahoo which lead to the oversight.

SS/CF so should go high. #2 is too high for a guy with a projected wRC+ in the 80s though. Talent thins out in the first round so he should be top 15 or so.
