  1. Well, if the sell high window was still open you just slammed it shut with this comment. But yeah, for a minute there earlier this summer, Santiago looked kind of good.
  2. Everyone in the league has made multiple trades this year and at least 18 roster moves, except for Sammy. He has made no trades and only 11 moves. Should we be concerned about Sammy's activity levels?
  3. No. I wouldn't have a ton of faith in his commitment to another fantasy league. AG would be a legit candidate. No point thinking about it though.
  4. I doubt he'll play much, but a 70+ runner who can play the MIF should help them a little bit down the stretch. It's amazing that the Nats are only .500. Desmond and Rendon have both been garbage. Similarly, it's crazy to me that Toronto is happy giving a roster spot to Ezequiel Carrera while Pompey crushes skulls in Buffalo. Surely he has developed as much as he's going to develop this season - just call him up as a great 4th OF.
  5. What is this s***, evidence and data? frig off!
  6. Bourn and Swisher weren't even terrible contracts. Bourn instantly went from a 4+ WAR player to s*** after signing. Basically the same thing with Swisher. It's remarkable how bad Cleveland's FA luck has been. They finished 5 games back last year while Swisher and Bourn combined for -1.2 WAR. If those two have league average years, like they would have been projected to when they signed their contracts, then Cleveland possibly wins the division.
  7. Because he's been a top dog there since 2002 and they haven't had a lot of success. Two playoff appearances + a 93 win team that didn't make the playoffs, but those brief successes were quickly forgotten. It's hard to be consistently good when your team payroll is almost always in the bottom ~6 in the league.
  8. Good post njh. Good thread.
  9. Foxsports is saying that Toronto is talking to him about replacing Beeston. This is the guy that you should all want as president. Very smart, and fairly "new school". Cleveland at times has been one of the most progressive front offices in baseball. Reasons for Shapiro to do it: better city, higher payroll, and a raise (obviously). FWIW, Indians fans would likely think - good riddance. It's easy to pluck executives from a struggling team.
  10. Keeping these 13 for sure: Marian Hossa (RW) Nick Foligno (LW) Sidney Crosby © Zach Parise (LW) Jarome Iginla (RW) Scott Hartnell (LW) Dmitrij Jaskin (RW) Jean-Gabriel Pageau © Mike Green Hampus Lindholm Dennis Wideman Ben Bishop Marc-Andre Fleury Cutting 6 of these guys; they are all available for trade: Darren Helm (C,LW) Patrik Berglund (C,LW) Daniel Winnik (LW) Artem Anisimov (C,LW) Milan Michalek (LW,RW) Marek Zidlicky Ian Cole Kevin Klein Anisimov in Chicago is interesting. Michalek has scoring upside. Klein is a great D sleeper in our format. Zidlicky could be a good PPP defenseman. Helm hits everybody and had an increased scoring role last year. Really not sure who to keep out of that last 8.
  11. I dunno, seems like a lot of work. You probably want too much.
  12. If you trade someone away that ends up being really good, then you're only allowed to lament the loss of them. These are the rules. I didn't write them.
  13. I could use him. My entire OF is on the DL; Souza and Dickerson are probably done for the year and Gordon isn't a good bet to have any significant impact in September even if he's off the DL.
  14. But then you got cold feet and traded him for a scout-scout guy who can't throw strikes.... nothing to brag about, bro.
  15. Suddenly, Boxy's Rodon for Bird+ trade doesn't look that bad... I think the Boxy joke might be over. His 2016 rotation already looks very solid and now he might have a few offensive pieces to frustrate his opponents too, in Correa, Bird, Reddick, and maybe Winker.
  16. Yeah, if Anderson can get on base enough he probably has the speed to steal 40+. Segura is a good comp because he's already displayed his upside and his hacky downside.
  17. They seem like wildly different players. I'd go with "present day Jose Reyes" upside.
  18. It's North's baby. He'll probably do a bulk update at some point. The rest of us barely have the attention span to click "allow trade" on Yahoo.
  19. Probably not. Peripherals aren't very good. BB% around 4, K% > 20, not hitting for any power. He looks like an Alcides/Segura type right now
  20. Confirmed. I also like Glasnow slightly better in a nutshell, but I need a SS for next year.
  21. But I don't want Kevin Jepsen to close...
  22. o/u on Jays runs tonight has to be like 9.5
  23. LUP = let us pray O2IAFSR = o2cui2i is a filthy sewer rat
