I think with baseball you get a lot of viewers that top watching when their team is out of it. It's not quite like football where people watch the Super Bowl no matter what. -

The Blue Jays national TV market would be bigger than any other team's TV market, so the necessarily really fair comparison would be the nationally televised games, if you want to point to the US' entire population size. This Wiki article (link) has all the World Series ratings. In recent years your looking at 10-16 million average viewers per game, and over 20 million average if it's a game 7. So Canada seems more than twice as baseball hungry right now as the US in general. Another decent comp would be the wild card games, because they were nationally televised and the Yankees were in one of them. I found this: -

I guess Pillar for Salazar would be fair but man, I've grown to love KP. It's possible that he's at the zenith of his value right now though I suppose. Still, I don't like trading above average regulars up the middle.

Miraculously, reliever Sanchez seems to be able to throw strikes, somehow. Maybe the added velocity = less movement = easier to hit the zone. Or maybe the added nastiness just = more swings. Or maybe it's just a small sample size!

He's Sam Dyson! Funny how they are both Blue Jays products and essentially the same person, except Sanchez was an untouchable SP prospect and Dyson was DFA'd without being given a chance to even relieve.

It's Cole Hamels. He could throw a CGSO against anyone. Pretty much a coin flip game. Maybe edge Toronto because Hamels is a lefty. If you're wondering about Stroman's splits vs. all of the Texas LHB, he doesn't really have a platoon split in his career. I don't know how much we'd have to regress that though.

I agree. I love the progressive / different thinking. The smart people on twitter bashing the move just might not realize how good Stroman actually is, and they might not realize the massive impact of losing Cecil.

I'm sure there's a lot to the decision. - Stroman is set up to be on regular rest for game 5. - Price could conceivably pitch a bit today and still be available in relief on Wednesday if necessary. - If you're going to use Price for handful of hitters in this game, you obviously want hitter #1 to be Choo so that he can face all of the middle order lefties. - The times-through-the-order penalty is significant and there's really no reason to leave Dickey in until he gets in trouble. I dunno. I don't think it's necessarily stupid. Lock this one down, hand the ball to Stroman, win the series, then Price can line up to go twice in the ALCS.

Another terrible call there on Ohlendorf. Chirinos made something down the middle look like it was easily outside. He's very bad!

Maybe Robinson Chirinos' fault. He's been one of the worst framers in baseball in the last two seasons, according to BP. Minus ~60 strikes, ~9 runs.

Heyward is so young that he could conceivably get a 10 year deal. I think his market could push up towards 10 years and like, $220M. The absolute minimum he should get would be the Ellsbury deal.
