  3. Certainly not.
  4. Maybe a mod can fix title. Should have been AA scouting Papelbon
  5. Sorry, wouldn't let me edit title, for some reason.
  6. Interesting tidbit from Jim Salisbury, CSNPhilly.com Jonathan Papelbon pitched a hitless and scoreless inning in front of a big crowd at Bright House Field that included Blue Jays' GM Alex Anthopoulos. (USA Today Images) CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Maybe it was nothing. But, then again, maybe it was something. Maybe Alex Anthopoulos, general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, popped into Bright House Field on Friday afternoon because he enjoys those Delco’s cheesesteaks that they sell behind home plate. Or maybe he was there to see Jonathan Papelbon. Whatever the case, it was quite interesting to see Anthopoulos seated in the scouts’ section watching the Phillies play the New York Yankees while his own team was hosting the Detroit Tigers just a few miles away in Dunedin. Rain began falling in the third inning and Anthopoulos soon vanished. But he was there long enough to see Papelbon have another good spring outing. The Phillies had Papelbon pitch his scheduled one inning at the start of the game to ensure that he got his work in before the rain. He pitched a scoreless inning, walked one and struck out one. He hit 93 mph on the stadium radar gun. For the spring, he has pitched seven innings and given up five hits and one earned run. He has walked just one and struck out six. Papelbon smiled when he was told that Anthopoulos was in the house. “Huh, interesting,” he said, uttering what has become his go-to response for all things trade related. Papelbon has said all the right things this spring, but last summer made it clear he was eager to be traded to a contending team. Earlier this spring, he said the Blue Jays would interest him if the Phillies were in a position to make a deal with that club. Sources say the Phillies and Blue Jays had some dialogue about Papelbon this winter. The Blue Jays have some budget constraints and are currently committed to Brett Cecil as their closer. But Anthopoulos’ pop-in to Bright House Field on Friday makes you wonder if the Jays are keeping tabs on Papelbon as a possible option down the road.
  7. Perhaps you should wait until they are actually producing for your major league team before you gloat.
  8. You know it sucks for Orioles fans. But this will happen in the end. Just like Jays fans hated the Sox for stealing Farrell, and that wasn't even for a promotion. In the end, either Angelos, cares about his team and their fans or he doesn't. There was a reason that LaCava turned down the job before DD got it, and it has to do with Angelos and his contributions to the game. As far as the MASN suit goes, they have nothing to do with each other. MLB, has a clause in all their agreements, something along the lines of "for the betterment of the game". DD will be leaving the O's, and Showalter will finally get the job that he has always wanted.
  9. JPMorosi, said that mlb was applying pressure for the O's to let him go. According to his sources, it has been common practice for a team to let someone go for a promotion, and that they were using the all star game, as a threat/reward to work something out.
  10. I think it was Hurl that tried to join and they wouldnt let him.
  11. Get Norwalk virus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. This came up on PTS a few months back. Macowan, said that Beeston always wanted to be head of the Leafs, and would leave the Jays in a minute if he was offered the job.
  13. more from north of the border. •FOXSports’ Ken Rosenthal tweets that the White Sox were also interested in Lind but did not make a substantial offer. I’m not surprised the Sox did not match the Brewers’ offer. With the possible exception of Dayan Viciedo, the White Sox don’t possess a player like Estrada, i.e. an established major leaguer coming off a disappointing season.
  14. Only old people read magazines, but old people hate technology... " stereotyping ???
  15. 1. Bullpen 2. Injury replacements - AAA players 3. Colby Rasmus
  16. Has anyone heard anything about Lawrie?
  17. And the guy that exercises about one minute per day, thinks it is funny. His response was exactly the attitude that permeates this team. Time for a house cleaning.
  18. This has nothing to do with their record, and I never said it did. Yes, I expect the players to at least be able to do their jobs. Catch a ball in center field. Have a right fielder that knows which way to turn when he is running to the wall, pitchers that can come out and not walk the first player they face. Shortstops that look like they know what they are doing. Bench players or not, they made it to the majors. Play like a major leaguer.
  19. And what did going public with his discontent do for the team? Maybe they need to stop making excuses. Most of them having been playing poor baseball. Bad defense, poor hitting and bad pitching. None of that has anything to do with the fact that AA didn't improve the team. Last nights game was a prime example. If they have given up on the season, so be it. But lay blame where it belongs. On the ones that have given up.
  20. I never specifically said that Bautista had to do something. But he is supposed to be the leader of this team. Calling out management to the press, is not the way to do it. If you are happy with his play in right field lately, good for you. I don't think it has been so stellar .
  21. Maybe the players need to look at themselves, and get out there and do their jobs. Maybe Bautista would have liked it if AA had traded him to make some additions to the team. I have probably been this team's biggest cheerleader, but the play since the break has been disgusting.
  22. Read somewhere, that Casey's agent went to the Jays during the off season about an extension, but AA said no. He wanted to wait until after this season to negotiate.
  23. Thank you . Very much appreciated.!!!
  24. Well were you coming to help me?
