  1. Sorry Zero. One too many deletes.
  2. Most everyone did like this move, and I can't explain why I didn't.
  3. Tell that to Tampa Bay. Come on, I understand what payroll means, and I certainly understand how teams are put together and how they become successful. I also said, there was no logic to my feelings. But there they are. So when this team goes on to build a consistent winner, you can all say, well wasn't she dumn. But sadly, if I am right, we will spend another 5 years or so waffling around the middle, being neither good nor bad. Unfortunately, for me, I probably won't live long enough to see another rebuild.
  4. Maybe Hutchinson will figure it out this year.
  5. So their guys that underperformed, are automatically going to get better, but the Jays are going to get worse? Panda supposedly is fatter now than he was at the end of the year. They asked him to go play winter ball to get in shape, and he wouldn't go. Hanram at 1B is going to be better playing a position he has never played in his career? There were already rumblings this winter about attitude problems with Hanram, and the same reason they traded him are still there. The Jays will have Tulo probably going to be better or at least back to his career average. Travis will hit better than Goings. There is certainly a chance that Pillar will continue to improve his hitting. Stroman will win more games than he did last year. Obviously, there are no guarantees with anybody, and the Jays could regress, but I certainly will not be giving the AL east to the Sox. Come on, anything can happen and everyone knows that. But getting Price does not automatically make this team better than the Jays.
  6. Jays scored 140 more runs than the Sox, and won 15 more games, with JB, EE, Tulo, Martin missing time. Yes, the Sox got Price, but they also have Ortiz another year older, Pedroia who is more injury prone each year, and terrible contracts with HR and Panda. Stroman will probably win as many games as Price, all things being equal.
  7. This is from global news comparing salaries between BC and Alberta: Once a teacher gets 10 years of experience, the differences in salaries appear more drastic between provinces. In Alberta, teachers make $99,300 on average and B.C. teachers make about $81,500 after a decade of experience, which translates to a 60 per cent increase in salary in 10 years." BC went through a lengthy strike, that lasted from May right through until the fall in 2014 while, teachers were telling us that they were doing it for the children. Students missed final exams, report cards, graduation, the start of the following school year and none of their classes were made up. When most workers were not even getting a wage increase, teachers were asking for 13% retroactive for four years, when they were already almost two years into the next contract. The biggest problem is that too many older teachers should be retired. Something like only 15% of all union members even voted, and the younger teachers or part timers didn't bother. Then when the senior teachers retire, they get called back on contract because they go to the top of the hire board. Whoever said that the union is too strong, is absolutely correct in BC. The new younger teachers just out of school with enthusiasm and excitement for teaching, have no chance to even get a job. For the teachers that really want to teach, I have all the respect in the world. It is a difficult job, and especially today, with all the difficulties they face in mainstreamed kids. But there are too many that are putting in time, waiting for that pension. And believe me, they are not putting in four hours extra per day marking papers or doing reports etc. In BC ever teacher gets time during their work week to do all this.
  8. Average starting salaries in BC for teachers is $42,000 and average top of scale starting salaries is $72,000. They are all paid a yearly salary, so are paid for their numerous weeks off. An average teacher salary in bc after ten years is $90,000 plus. In alberta it is $100,000.
  9. Well he knew that one of the reasons that AA was leaving was because of the way they treated Beeston. That has been reported quite widely, and they had a lengthy discussion on sirius xm on this. Perkins also discussed the same subject. Where there is smoke ......
  10. There is a rumour according to Brunt that AAhas a four year offer on the table from the Dodgers.
  11. Kennedy said that they had called every team trying to trade him even before this.
  12. Just to get this thread back on track, on sirius xm today, they were discussing Reyes possible penalty. First time that MLB will deal with this under their new policy. Kennedy seems to think there will be no tolerance and Reyes will get hit hard. What would you think is a fair penalty, assuming he is found guilty.
  13. If it was one woman, or a disgruntled fan or employee, then maybe. But there were 27 women who went on tv and told their stories. Much to their shame. Plus, I think his accusers number about 45 now.
  14. Well the woman that have come forward, and there are a multitude of them now, have all had the same story. They woke up and didnt know what had happened to them.
  15. You must be trolling. The police are called, they treat her, and yet she still has to go to the hospital. Sure thing, she did it to herself.
  16. The difference being a shot is taken with a woman's consent. Quaaludes are given to these women without their knowledge.
  17. Didnt he turn the jays down once before?
  18. He didn't quit on "US". He quit because he has ethics and obviously Rogers doesn't. They were negotiating through August, with offers that were not what AA felt he deserved. Like how he did it or not, he had the team in a position to win and finally make the playoffs. If Rogers felt that he hadn't done a good job, there should have been no negotiations. But in their usual idiotic manner, they were going to fire him, and then he turned the club around and now Ed Rogers had to try and save face. Just like he had done in the Duquette mess. Even with all that, they offer him a one year deal with an option. So now, if you are in AA's position, you were the boss, and had done exactly what Rogers asked, and they are offering you an assistant GM job, with not even a long term contract. Big deal, you can walk away after a year. So that just makes AA look like some kind of whiny. ungrateful. Sometimes, your own ethics take precedent and in AA's case, I say good for him. Sorry that he is leaving, and I will wait and see, but to all the Shapiro lovers, be careful what you wish for. His record, limited payroll or not, is mediocre. His drafting is unimpressive, and there are certainly enough Indian fans, cheering his departure. He was kicked upstairs because of his lousy on field record according to most reports.
  19. Half the fans want him gone now.
  20. I am disappointed that AA has decided to leave. But things change and maybe it will be for the better. But all the cheerleading for Shapiro amazes me. Exactly what has this guy done in the ten years or so that he has been in charge. Mediocrity. Yes, his team is filled with home grown talent, but they have won the division once I believe. Not what I would call great success.
  21. You guys are all talking like Shapiro is the next coming. Even with more money, there is no guarantee that he will turn the Jays into a team that contends every year. The Jays are in a division that always contends with the payrolls of the Sox and the Yankees. Cleveland while working with a much smaller payroll, did not go the Rays route, and draft very well. So that is on Shapiro. You constantly judge AA on the Marlins trade projecting what those prospects are going to be three years down the road. They are only projections. Personally, I think AA was on the right road, and then pressure came from somewhere, thus the Dickey etc. trades. The pressure got more intense, and while he had mostly rebuilt the farm, he went all in and used the top layers for this year and probably next year's run. From the excitement, ticket and gear sales, I would say he was successful. I think it would be a terrible mistake for Shapiro to let AA go. Not because he is walking on water right now. But because of what it will do to the image that this club is trying to build. You always talk about the casuals, but it was them that filled the seats at the dome. AA can be rehired, given a contract to his liking and if things don't go well, he can be fired, just like every other manager in mlb.
  22. http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/10/24/royals-blue-jays-alcs-clinch-pennant This is Verducci's column on how scouts helped Kansas beat the Jays.
