  1. Interesting read on TSN about this very subject: http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=454378
  2. I read this a while back, and he was also on Sirius radio being interviewed about it. He even said, that he knew people would say it was sour grapes, but they had callers who had played minor league ball call in and say that it was probably even worse than what he was saying. This is not the guys that get the million dollar bonuses, but the bulk of players that make up the minor leagues. A couple of guys that called in, were even known by the hosts, but they didn't give their names, as one of them was still in AAA trying to get any kind of call up. One of the callers was a pitcher, who just had one injury after another, and he was only hanging on, because if he could get a call up for even just one day, his pay could help him get out of the hole that he was in. To me it is the dirty side of the game, that not many people know about.
  3. And then he turned around a week later and said the Jays should trade for Samardzia.
  4. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb This article on fox, should help to give you guys some confidence in this team. Of course, this old lady, told you in off season that this was going to be a good team :=)
  5. Not gloating yet, but enjoying every single boot of the ball, or pitcher meltdown in Beantown. they are starting to worry though. Cherrington and his henchmen in Atlanta today. Talk of them putting all the blame on A J.

  7. Thank you for the mother's day wish!
  8. I know there aren't many woman on this board, but everyone has a mother. Give her a hug, send her an email card, or phone her. It will mean more than you will ever know. Thought this was appropriate for a baseball message board. At one point during a game, the coach called one of his 9-year-old baseball players aside and asked, 'Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?' The little boy nodded in the affirmative. 'Do you understand that what matters is whether we win or lose together as a team?' The little boy nodded 'yes'. 'So,' the coach continued, 'I'm sure you know, when an out is called, you shouldn't argue, curse, attack the umpire, or call him a pecker-head, dickhead or *******. Do you understand all that? ' The little boy nodded 'yes' again. He continued, 'And when I take you out of the game so another boy gets a chance to play too, it's not good sportsmanship to call your coach "a dumb ass or ********" is it?' The little boy shook his head 'NO'. 'GOOD', said the coach . . . 'Now go over there and explain all that to your grandmother!'
  9. Yes the vast majority projected a .500 team with that being the best they will achieve. I was one of the few that disagreed. Time will tell. But if I am right, I guarantee that the number slingers will come up with a new projection, that if they had taken a nine year study, they would have been right all along. Numbers never lie. :-)
  10. Nobody was OVERLY optimistic on this team, including me. But it will certainly be better than what has been forecast on this board. As far as the least amount of errors, I never said it was the best defensive team. But there were posters on this board, that moaned about how bad this team would be defensively. And it has been anything but bad!!!
  11. I have Always said this team was going to be better than the doomsayers. But after awhile, it is pointless to voice any enthusiasm. And by the way, the Jays have the least amount of errors in MLB.
  12. No, they got beat by a pitcher, who didn't do his job!!! All the numbers or bad luck or whatever in the world, won't excuse the fact that the guy threw a bunch of meatballs over the centre of the plate.
  13. I wondered the same thing. Certainly not showing up for his "contract year"
  14. I have never been one to fire the coach right away, but there is something drastically wrong. Where are the stats guys? Have our pitchers given up WAY more walks this year than last at this time?
  15. Andrews also said that he has been alarmed for the past few years when he operates and sees arms that look like they are 40 on kids that are in their 20's.
  16. There was a lengthy discussion on this on Sirius a few weeks ago, with Andrews. He felt that the prevalence today was from the amount of work that young arms are taking on. He said top young pitchers in high school can pitch an entire year now with no time off, as they are dragged from different leagues to show case kids. This was never done before. He felt that kids were arriving at minor league camps with years of wear and tear on young developing arms. His opinion that the work load was much too heavy not in the minors where clubs baby pitchers, but in the previous years where coaches are only interested in winning, and parents are interested in show casing their kid.
  17. Where exactly on the Orioles board was this posted. I couldn't see it anywhere and was interested in reading the responses.
  18. And that is why I said I was of the female persuasion. And by the way, I am hardly 80 or anywhere close. And by the way, the Jays are tied for first again.
  19. Sorry, not going to be providing any spoon pics. Either posters believe me or they don't. And yes, even at my advanced age, I know what a spoon pic is. :-)
  20. Both are die hard jays fans, but both are too busy. Rajai davis gave one of my girls an autographed ball last time we were in seattle. My oldest grand said to him, "but i have a sister and he went and got her another ball and signed it for her. He became my favourite just for that.
  21. Well get your money out. Of course I remember from that last time I bet someone on this board, they don't pay, so that will be a waste. Plus, i don't take money from kids, so there is that too. But since i don't have to prove anything to you, I will just tell you, I am a woman, i have two kids that were not from the immaculate conception, and I have two granddaughters, one of which is almost as old as some of the posters on here. Believe it or not, your choice. But Spanky can tell you , you are being dumb.
  22. Well i dont know about girls, but I certainly am of the female persuasion, so don't go betting your lunch money.
  23. He seemed like a very nice man. "You measure your life not in the number of breaths that you take, but in the number of times you have been left breathless" I hope he had lots of those moments. Rip
