  1. Well he knew that one of the reasons that AA was leaving was because of the way they treated Beeston. That has been reported quite widely, and they had a lengthy discussion on sirius xm on this. Perkins also discussed the same subject. Where there is smoke ......
  2. There is a rumour according to Brunt that AAhas a four year offer on the table from the Dodgers.
  3. Kennedy said that they had called every team trying to trade him even before this.
  4. Just to get this thread back on track, on sirius xm today, they were discussing Reyes possible penalty. First time that MLB will deal with this under their new policy. Kennedy seems to think there will be no tolerance and Reyes will get hit hard. What would you think is a fair penalty, assuming he is found guilty.
  5. If it was one woman, or a disgruntled fan or employee, then maybe. But there were 27 women who went on tv and told their stories. Much to their shame. Plus, I think his accusers number about 45 now.
  6. Well the woman that have come forward, and there are a multitude of them now, have all had the same story. They woke up and didnt know what had happened to them.
  7. You must be trolling. The police are called, they treat her, and yet she still has to go to the hospital. Sure thing, she did it to herself.
  8. The difference being a shot is taken with a woman's consent. Quaaludes are given to these women without their knowledge.
  9. Didnt he turn the jays down once before?
  10. He didn't quit on "US". He quit because he has ethics and obviously Rogers doesn't. They were negotiating through August, with offers that were not what AA felt he deserved. Like how he did it or not, he had the team in a position to win and finally make the playoffs. If Rogers felt that he hadn't done a good job, there should have been no negotiations. But in their usual idiotic manner, they were going to fire him, and then he turned the club around and now Ed Rogers had to try and save face. Just like he had done in the Duquette mess. Even with all that, they offer him a one year deal with an option. So now, if you are in AA's position, you were the boss, and had done exactly what Rogers asked, and they are offering you an assistant GM job, with not even a long term contract. Big deal, you can walk away after a year. So that just makes AA look like some kind of whiny. ungrateful. Sometimes, your own ethics take precedent and in AA's case, I say good for him. Sorry that he is leaving, and I will wait and see, but to all the Shapiro lovers, be careful what you wish for. His record, limited payroll or not, is mediocre. His drafting is unimpressive, and there are certainly enough Indian fans, cheering his departure. He was kicked upstairs because of his lousy on field record according to most reports.
  11. Half the fans want him gone now.
  12. I am disappointed that AA has decided to leave. But things change and maybe it will be for the better. But all the cheerleading for Shapiro amazes me. Exactly what has this guy done in the ten years or so that he has been in charge. Mediocrity. Yes, his team is filled with home grown talent, but they have won the division once I believe. Not what I would call great success.
  13. You guys are all talking like Shapiro is the next coming. Even with more money, there is no guarantee that he will turn the Jays into a team that contends every year. The Jays are in a division that always contends with the payrolls of the Sox and the Yankees. Cleveland while working with a much smaller payroll, did not go the Rays route, and draft very well. So that is on Shapiro. You constantly judge AA on the Marlins trade projecting what those prospects are going to be three years down the road. They are only projections. Personally, I think AA was on the right road, and then pressure came from somewhere, thus the Dickey etc. trades. The pressure got more intense, and while he had mostly rebuilt the farm, he went all in and used the top layers for this year and probably next year's run. From the excitement, ticket and gear sales, I would say he was successful. I think it would be a terrible mistake for Shapiro to let AA go. Not because he is walking on water right now. But because of what it will do to the image that this club is trying to build. You always talk about the casuals, but it was them that filled the seats at the dome. AA can be rehired, given a contract to his liking and if things don't go well, he can be fired, just like every other manager in mlb.
  14. http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/10/24/royals-blue-jays-alcs-clinch-pennant This is Verducci's column on how scouts helped Kansas beat the Jays.
  15. If Shapiro is as smart as some think, he will keep AA at least until he gets his feet under him. He was hired, not just for the Jays, but to handle all the operating side, and stadium renovations. I would highly doubt that he would make any drastic changes in the next year or so. If AA and him can't work along side each other, then he will find this out down the road and will do something then. Plus, he doesn't want to start off his career with the Jays hated by fans, because he fired the Jays "savior that got them to the playoffs"
  16. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that there are actually people still like that .
  17. Hooked on a feeling by BJ Thomas
  18. Glad to see the Royals winning. Jays will get by them. Was much more worried about the Astros.
  19. Thank you all for your kindness. Go Jays Go.
  20. I am a very ancient woman that saw the first game, loved the Jays from the first pitch. Watched all the years of ineptitude. Was there when they played in their first WS, because my hubby went to the bank and took out a loan to buy us tickets. Travelled every year to see my Jays play somewhere, always with my hubby by my side. This year i lost my hubby of 49 years and have been struggling. But my Jays were always there to make me feel better. And today is the first time in 7 months that I have laughed, and felt joy again. Thank you to the Jays and all you on this board that brighten my day.
