    I would argue he blocked the plate before he has the ball though. That was the violation I think. He was literally standing in front of the plate as Rutschman is trying to decide where to slide

    Yeah just missed earlier in the 6th/7th inning. Would have been a completely different game if that one went out and we had the lead there. Ah well, that’s how baseball goes sometimes

    Kirk could have stayed inside the foul line and fielded the ball just fine but he chose not too

    The problem is different umpires calling it from the replay room each night, so there will be some inconsistencies. Clearly the Umps have made a point to enforce the “blocking” rule more strictly this season because we’ve seen this several times already

    Stop being homers for a second and notice that Kirk starts inside the line, crab walks over the foul line and straddles the plate for a good while, then goes outside the line to catch the ball.
