Sure. That is probably true for every offseason and every team though. The lineup doesn’t have many holes next year, maybe could upgrade at CF or 2B/SS but that’s it. Pitching will be the focus again
Makes perfect sense to me. I just hope they have the sense to throw Bass or Garcia or someone in there inning 4/5 if Stripling gets into a jam. Give Berrios a clean inning.
I just realized, if Berrios had not been extended then he would have been a free agent after the season. His contract probably would’ve looked more like 5/80 or something, maybe a 1 year QO deal.
I think if the FO is that short-sighted then the team is in deep s***. You have to go into 2023 thinking that Bo and Berrios will be close to their career norms. Have a backup plan sure, but you can’t really give up on a player year 1 of a 7 year contract
The Berrios contract blows his out of the water in terms of value… as long as Berrios returns to career norms.
Starting pitching is expensive unless you develop internally
I don’t think its as strict as “the starter decides and that’s it”
Clearly seemed like a team decision to wear the Reds. They also wore Powder Blues for like 2-3 weeks straight for a while.
