  1. You didn’t watch the first 4-5 AA years then I guess? Because those years were also quite s***. This team has been an exciting/playoff contender for the last while minus 2024.
  2. I wonder if Ross is contemplating offing himself at this point or if he’s actually angry and smashing things in his office. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the Jays front office on Monday morning
  3. Look lets not pretend this doesn’t have everything to do with the fact Shohei chose to sign with the Dodgers. They’re a smart team and FO sure, but this has everything to do with their status as a brand in one of the most famous cities on earth. LA. Hollywood. Every foreigner dreams of making it big in LA (or NY). Shohei chose the Dodgers and it has caused a domino effect of every Japanese player wanting to be his teammate.
  4. Just expect every player coming over from Japan to sign with the Dodgers at this point, and be pleasantly surprised if we nab one.
  5. Sorry but you guys are morons for getting your hopes up and thinking he was ever even considering a team other than the Dodgers.
  6. Im going to guess the decision will come through sometime later tonight, similar to the Ohtani thing. Its 8am right now in Japan, so im guessing we will hear a confirmation that he has signed with the Dodgers sometime around 8pm tonight (10am Japan time)
  7. There's no f***ing shot he's not signing with the Dodgers
  8. He'd still sign with the Dodgers, even if their pool money was 200k
  9. We kinda needed a backup CF anyways so its not the worst
  10. its always been the Dodgers. This whole garbage charade is just as bad as the Ohtani s***
  11. I’d probably do Vientos for Vlad straight up lol. The cost savings and being able to use that money for Bregman/Alonso is already worth more combined WAR than Vlad alone, plus won’t be locked into an albatross contract for a lazy/stupid player like Vlad.
  12. I still think its like 80% Dodgers, 19.9% Padres, and maybe 0.1% Jays. Padres are possible, Jays are not. But im still pretty certain it’ll be the Dodgers
  13. Yeah anyone that thinks otherwise is extremely naive
  14. Probably looking for something more like 3/75 with an opt-out after year 1.
  15. At this point, I have to think the player opt-outs are the thing making Atkins balk. Our front office has been very vocal about their dislike for opt-outs, and if those guys are signing a short-term deal it will need to have opt-outs like the Snell/Chapman/Correa deals. But having any of those guys on a short term deal where they opt out after the season would be good for us because it means they had a good year.
  16. Yup, this idea/concept of “a WS contender team” is a myth. You only need to be a playoff team to win the WS. You can quickly look at recent winners like the Rangers, Braves, and Nationals to see that a borderline playoff team can still win it all. The Braves and Nationals specifically had way better teams in other years and didn’t make it to the WS. They both won with pretty weak teams in their respective years. Just make the f’ing playoffs and hope a guy gets hot. The Dodgers didn’t win the WS last year because they were the best team. They won the WS because guys like Freeman/Edman/Betts got blazing hot at the right time.
  17. Well in that scenario the upside would be winning a world series. That’s kinda the goal of all this
  18. All I was saying is that if they’re looking to move him now, they should have been looking to move him at the deadline. He seems to me like a guy that could fall apart any day now considering his age, and I felt like last deadline was a good time to move him and replace him with something younger and/or cheaper. Or with more upside. I was saying this at the deadline last year so it isn’t hindsight speaking.
  19. They really should’ve shopped Bassitt at the deadline last year. Sometimes this front office seems directionless…
