Yeah, the alternative is…. Not spending. Like the Os. Imagine how frustrated that fanbase must be having that great young core but no free agent support.
I feel the same. Have a bobblehead of Max with the WS trophy on my shelf (when he won with the Nats)
Im just praying he stays somewhat healthy. Pretty certain he’ll hit the DL at some point this season, but im just hoping he can make 15-20 starts and be available for playoffs.
No team is really close to the Dodgers at this point, but that doesn’t really matter. The playoffs are a crapshoot and we wouldn’t be playing the Dodgers until the very end anyways.
I don’t really see JD working in this lineup. Santander won’t play OF everyday and JD locks up the DH spot and gives 0 flexibility. Alonso you could make a case for since he can play 1B, but Martinez really ties your hands.
Likely a rotation of Vlad playing some 3rd with Alonso at 1B and Santander DH, and Santander playing OF a good chunk of games.
Vlad/Alonso/Santander only really works if you see Santander mainly as an OF with a couple DH starts per week.
Come on now, that’s kind of a cop out. Because we don’t work for an MLB front office we can’t comment on the value of certain players? Prospects sure, but a guy with 3 MLB seasons has more than enough data for us to be able to form an opinion.
Sounds like Alonso/Boras want an opt out after year 1, or potentially opt outs after each of the first couple years.
I can totally see why a front office would be against that.
Strawman. Who here is saying this changes their mind on current regime? That this fixes everything?
But at least they’re f***ing doing something better than last offseason.
