  1. Vlad also had no reason to take a discount deal after a terrible season. The guy is clearly deluded thinking he’s one of the best players in the game, he was never going to settle.
  2. Yes, this has been pretty clear since last offseason. Vlad needs the wakeup call that he actually isn't getting close to Soto numbers.
  3. And im tired of giving Vlad extra points because "he's young" Whatever gains he might make while aging and learning are negated by the fact his body will start declining rapidly.
  4. Vlad isn't even the best player at his position since he broke into the league.... there's 3 ahead of him. Even if you set a date range of 2021-2024, he still has 3 players ahead of him in WAR at the same position. This idea that Vlad is a "generational" talent needs to f***ing die.
  5. I think we may just have to accept that "growing the board" means having way more people that agree with this type of article compared to the old board. Which in turn might end up with the old users deciding to create their own board again lol.
  6. Maaaaan you don’t need to be a basement dwelling SABR nerd to understand Vlad isn’t worth 500 million. I appreciate these kinds of articles but this one is super dramatic. Its like we fed the Jays fecebook page comments into chat gpt and this is what came out.
  7. No you wont. You’ll move the goalposts again. ”550 isn’t really THAT much more than 400, they should have signed him. Cheapass Rogers!”
  8. Man, the Redsox have seemingly hit on so many stud prospects. Maybe their development is just super solid. - Casas - Duran - Anthony - Mayer - Campbell Plus Devers and now Bregman is a super solid core.
  9. Exactly. I’d rather wait to see if he can put up MVP numbers again before forking over 500mil. Giving him anything over 300 at this point could look absolutely terrible before the ink dries if he has another mediocre season in 2025. I need to see more consistency to warrant the type of contract Vlad wants.
  10. Yeah never really thought it made sense to trade him in the offseason. If you were trading him it should have been last deadline, why did we need him for the extra half season of a dead season? Ok so they held him. Planning to compete this year. Tried to extend him. Didn’t work out. I still don’t think its the right time to trade him now. You go into the season trying to compete again, and if it doesn’t work out you flip him at the deadline. If it goes the way of Donaldson, we probably sign Vlad back on a short-term or smaller deal anyways. I honestly like that better than extending him to some stupid 500mil deal. My choice probably would have been to trade him last deadline but that ship is sailed.
  11. Absolute yikes if that’s what Vlad thinks. Par for the course with him though, we know he has the mental capacity of a 16 year old.
  12. I’ve been thinking this is how it will go since like last year. He just needs to hit free agency to see what he’s actually worth to the league
  13. Nice writeup! Im really rooting for DS and hoping he can look a bit better than he did last year. Too bad he doesn’t have a better arm for 3B because that would be a clear path for everyday play for him.
  14. Soto is way more consistent, generally has a better attitude, and took 2 teams to the WS. Vlad isn’t half the player Soto is
  15. He has a vested interest in having a great season though, because he doesn’t sniff 400 mil unless he puts up like 5 WAR. So it benefits both sides for him to have a good year.
  16. Also you probably have a better chance at resigning Vlad if you hold onto him vs trading him. I don’t think its a terrible move to let him play out the season.
  17. They’re probably a better team THIS season with Vlad on it though. And we still have the flexibility to trade him at the deadline if we are out.
  18. Everyone should watch this vid. From a few days ago too, so he was correct
  19. Lots of people arguing with emotions here instead of logic. I suspect we will look back on this in a few months time (or a few years) and be very happy we didn’t sign Vlad for some ridiculous amount.
  20. Don’t really agree with this. If a guy like Vlad becomes available on the trade market, you don’t pass because you signed Pete Alonso or Goldschmidt to a 1/2 year deal.
