    Don’t really agree with this. If a guy like Vlad becomes available on the trade market, you don’t pass because you signed Pete Alonso or Goldschmidt to a 1/2 year deal.

    It entirely depends on whether he has a good season or a bad season this year. And that’s part of the reason the front office doesn’t agree on his value, because he’s been so inconsistent

    Yeah. The reality is, they haven’t really lived up to expectations. We have 0 playoff wins with this core. Im not tripping over my heels screaming for the front office to sign either of these guys. Most “fans” probably couldn’t name 3 other first basemen in the league

    FWIW Davis Samson said the same on his podcast today. Says Vlad will go to free agency and realize no team is giving him 400m as an inconsistent, concerning body, 1B. But also said the self-imposed deadline is bogus and if they Jays offer him a good deal mid-season he would still take it.

    He hits a lot of flyballs to LF from what I remember hearing, so he could potentially have a good season in Boston, take the 40m, then sign a 150/6 contract next year and still come out ahead.

    Every hitter in the lineup is projected for 100 wRC+ or higher except Clement, with Vlad, Santander and Bo projected well above that.
