  1. I don't read Sickels. He's pretty much just some scouting report aggregator who managed to rack up a substantial reader base because he wrote about prospects for free at a time when prospect lists were paywalled. His lists are the product of groupthinky fans chirping in his ear and egging him to adjust grades endlessly. Blah. Also his site is an ugly mess. Fact is, no site has ever pegged Refsnyder as an impact player. I don't think I've ever seen him graded as 60 OFP or equivalent anywhere, maybe not even 55.
  2. Yeah, I'm sure an organization as rich and well-staffed as the Yankees just happened to accidentally overlook him repeatedly.
  3. Seager? He was actually a notable prospect with power and 3B-stickability. Travis, maybe. But Travis probably isn't even as good as we hope he is.
  4. That's irrelevant and hurtful.
  5. I don't know why you guys are so bent on making Refsnyder some cause célèbre. He's never been highly touted by any prospect publication, his own team won't give him playing time, and we've never heard of any other teams asking for or valuing him in trade negotiations. I think it's pretty likely that you're just wrong about him, rather than 30 organizations and every major prospect site. He's just a dude, and 2B is not a position where teams are willing to accept crappy defense unless it's accompanied by exceptional offensive production.
  6. You've probably never even watched Refsnyder play.
  7. Give up on that dream. Montreal cares about baseball as much as Tampa.
  8. I don't know why they would even consider building a new stadium there. People in Tampa don't care about baseball (or hockey), period. Time to cut bait and move to Brooklyn.
  9. Danny V is going to smack 30 bombs this year with a clear path to playing time.
  10. IMO that's less idiotic than the lesser package they gave up for Miller. At least Fernandez is a legitimately elite arm.
  11. As a Fernandez fan and owner, I'm really glad that Arizona now lacks the pieces to acquire him. God that org is so barf-worthy.
  12. The Yankees don't trust him at all defensively, apparently. He's a bit of a tweener on the defensive spectrum -- can't pick it full time in the infield, doesn't profile as an impact bat in the outfield -- he'll probably end up a utility guy. I could see him being a late bloomer like Forsythe.
  13. Also, I don't think anyone outside of our fanbase values Travis very highly right now. He's unproven and has a major shoulder problem.
  14. Ehhhh, that's pretty much cutting off your nose to spite your face. I love Fernandez, but with his health risks, there's a chance Stroman can outproduce him in WAR over the next 3 years.
  15. If anything that just proves how little they think of Refsnyder.
  16. Anyway, the Dodgers don't need Fernandez. Apparently Maeda is good friends with Iwakuma, so I don't think it's a total accident that the Dodgers locked up Iwakuma, and I definitely see them as the favourite to land Maeda now.
  17. Apparently they asked for Urias + Seager + Joc, which is laughable. However, if that's the target, then perhaps they would accept Urias + Joc + a lesser piece, which is maybe an asking price we could approach with quantity.
  18. So is there any conceivable package we could table for Fernandez that doesn't include Stroman? Maybe Sanchez or Osuna + Pompey + Alford + Harris? I would give up pretty much anything and everything.
  19. The Yankees have spent a lot more time than you evaluating Refsnyder.
  20. I don't think that trade is at all regrettable for you at the moment. Greg Bird looks like he can absolutely be a foundational hitter for you, as long as the Yankees don't jerk him around like Refsnyder.
  21. What can I say? I have a thing for blonds.
  22. I be all up on Joc's jock.
  23. Exactly, and yet they are very comparable pitchers. Meanwhile, you'd gladly give up good assets for one while you wouldn't even give the one we have a shot in the rotation. A bird in the bush is better than a bird in hand, apparently.
  24. No need to stare, his numbers quickly demonstrate that he's a league average pitcher who has benefited from environment and exceptional batted ball luck this year. The Braves are absolutely right to sell him now while there are still some ignorant GMs (like Dave Stewart) who share your extremely limited ability (and close-minded willingness) to understand predictive metrics.
  25. You literally don't even see the big picture.
