  1. Zaun said we can't stretch out Cecil, yet the team wants Esmail Rogers to start a game? I wouldn't stretch outCecil either, but why not use one of the scrubs in AAA as emergency starter?
  2. JPA took a walk!!!!!! Unbelievable, I never thought I would see again in my lifetime
  3. That's a good point. I wonder why AA was so hyped about getting Dickey. Was he the best available starting pitcher in the offseason? Was it done to sell tickets in 2013? "NL CY Young" is pretty good from a marketing perspective.
  4. Lind is unable to hit LHP. He was supposed to be platooned with Rajai Davis. He's having a better year because Gibby won't let him hit against LHP. JPA was in the cleanup spot until a few games ago.
  5. Zaun had to keep a low profile after bashing AA last year & saying the prospects weren't being disciplined enough. He also got into trouble for his comments about ugly obese women at Hemingway's bar in Toronto. http://deadspin.com/5969819/gregg-zaun-is-tired-of-seeing-all-these-fat-chicks-in-toronto
  6. This is very true. He was opposed to the Jays bringing up Sean Nolin on Baseball central on Friday morning. & he was right, but he had to backtrack on sportsnet.ca later yesterday before the game. Dirk has a unique perspective on baseball given his minor league career & short stint in the majors. He is a pro Tampa Bay Rays fan & loves how they develop their pitching prospects. I wonder how long Rogers will keep him if he continues to point out weaknesses in AA's philosophy.
  7. I do think Dickey's ERA will be higher in the AL because the offense is stronger. Dickey has acknowledged back issues. If Dickey played in Tampa where he would have guaranteed Dome conditions for half the season, his ERA would probably be lower.
  8. I looked at Dickey's stats this year. With the roof open he has given up 7 runs in 6 innings on May 4th against. the Mariners & 2 runs on May 20th against the Rays in 8 innings & 6 runs today in 6 and 2/3 innings. Total innings pitched with open roof at Rogers Centre. 20.66. ERA 6.53 Total innings pitched with roof closed. 22.66. ERA 4.76. Thus, his ERA is lower when the dome is closed.
  9. When Dickey was traded to the Jays many commentators said that he pitched better in Dome conditions, because his knuckleball wouldn't be affected by the wind. If so, why hasn't Rogers ordered the Dome closed during all Dickey home starts? The Dome was closed during the home opener & Dickey gave up 4 runs, but some of those runs were due to JPA being unable to catch Dickey. Would MLB get mad at the Jays for closing the game during Dickey starts? Could Rogers open the dome after Dickey finishes pitching? I realize that when the roof is open , it is a more enjoyable experience, but given Dickey's limitations, wouldn't fans want to have Dickey win the game??
  10. Recently, Mike Wilner pointed out that if you take out the 1-8 record against the Yankees, the Jays record looks a lot better. He also said the Yankees would not be in first place if they didn't play the Jays.
  11. I agree. I am curious if AA would be willing to acclerate Johnson's return to the team, to see if he can pitch well. A few good starts before the trade deadline would improve Johnson's trade value. It would also help the team. I do wonder if Rogers tells AA that he spend 14 milion elsewhere? If you are Josh Johnson & end up having a mediocre season, wouldn't it make sense to accept the Jays 14 million & try to have an excellent 2014, then cash in with a long term contract?. Would any other team dare sign Johnson to a long term contract in 2014 based on his 2013 results?
  12. I was watching Blue Jays Central today, & it seems like Dirk is going out of his way to needle Gregg Zaun. He argued with Zaun about whether or not Lawrie ejection was warranted last night. Zaun agreed with the ejection. He then tried to explain advanced baseball stats of run expectancy of bunting, but then halted the discussion by saying that Gregg zaun's head would explode at any talk of advanced stats. Luckily, Jamie Campbell was there to prevent Zaun from punching Hayhurst. Zaun lifted his hands on 2 occasions as mock disgust. Zaun also said there was no rum in his coke. Does anyone think Hayhurst is purposely trying to needle Zaun for better tv ratings or does Hayhurst have a fundamental disagreement with Zaun over many issues? I like Hayhurst & his insights into baseball.
  13. Does AA keep him at the trade deadline, ? Does AA trade him for a prospect? Would AA keep him, make him a 1 year qualifying offer around 14 million to get a draft pick for 2014? I assume AA would not offer him a long term contract based on his current performance.
  14. Those numbers look OK. I think Carreno may have made a couple of starts for the blue jays last year.
  15. I think we are close to having more pitchers used than last year. Perhaps Beeston can organize a "flashback friday" at Rogers Centre in 2014 for all the pitchers used in 2012 & 2013. ? It's very frustrating that AA constantly goes through the waiver wire & gives these guys 1 start, then DFA's them. Isn't there anyone in AAA than can come up for a couple of starts?? Ortiz hasn't been that horrible while he has been here.
  16. Josh Johnson hasn't pitched since April 21st. For some reason, the Jays delayed the DL till April 29
  17. +1 Very well said. It's baffling what the Jays are doing. I doubt AA thought that Ricky Romero would be a basket case this year.
  18. You have to admit that the poor kid only had 30 innings above A level.
  19. I agree with Dirk Hayhurst who said the Jays were rushing prospects to the MLB. I hope Nolin gets a second start.
  20. Here's the clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33I8Kg1CiO4&feature=youtu.be If Reyes is back before the all star break, that would be awesome.
  21. I like Morrow. He can be very dominating at times and strike out 10 hitters. On the other hand, he usually gets hurt every year, & I doubt we will see him pitch 200 innings. Overall, this has been one of AA's best acquisitions. He traded Brandon league for Morrow. Morrow's temper last night was shocking. Why was he so upset? I understand giving up B2B HR's is annoying, but he finished 7 innings with the lead.
  22. Bad news about Oliver, but at age 42 this was bound to happen. Hopefully, Josh Johnson can come back soon.
  23. Was he whiny clowntista?
