  1. Today on Blue Jays Central, Gregg Zaun speculated that Gibbons is the wrong manager for this roster. Essentially, he said that Gibby is a victim of a veteran based roster that cannot police themselves. I think this is a "canary in the cold mine" comment. Zaun said that Gibby could manage the Red Sox or Yankees but not the Jays. Zaun does not think that Gibby deserves to be fired but he may be a sacrificial lamb at the end of the season. Thoughts? I doubt AA will fire Gibby because he feels comfortable with him but stranger things have happened.
  2. Wilner has finally conceded that Josh Johnson won't get a 7 year 150 million contract from the Jays. He said that Johnson & Rajai Davis won't be back & that 2B needs to be upgraded. Wilner wants t shirts printed that say #Don't blame Gibbons for the fans that ant a scapegoat. Wilner now says that the status quo for 2014 won't be enough for a playoff calibre team.
  3. OK, but what would he do differently than Gibby? He seems like a blank slate.
  4. How would Hale be an improvement over Gibby? I can't recall any interview that Hale has given to the media this year.
  5. I am wearing my Encarnacion Parrot shirt so I hope this brings luck to the Jays. Very upset that Zaun is basicaly telegraphing the impending firing of Gibby. AA should refuse to do it.
  6. Zaun said that Gibby may not be the right guy to manage this roster & will probably be the scapegoat & fired at the end of the season. Very Sad News.
  7. This game is embarrassing. I am switching to The Love Boat reruns.
  8. Obama hasn't done a good job with the White Sox. They haven't made the playoffs since he was elected in 2008. Obama has put too much time into running the country. I think Hawk "Put it on the Board" Harrelson should demand a meeting with Obama to build the team the White Sox Way. )
  9. Interesting point about JPA. If we didn't get Dicky, we would have John Buck & TDA waiting in the wings. We wouldn't need a knuckleball expert catcher like Thole or Blanco.
  10. Agreed. AA can't admit he's made 2 bad managerial choices in a row. It makes sense to give Gibby another year with a full spring training schedule. This year half the team was in the WBC. Lawrie got hurt etc. Next year the comeback begins & the team has a shot at above 500 baseball.
  11. If AA got a top 5 pick would he even sign him? AA has trouble signing his first round picks.
  12. I know he's always injured. The first time I saw him in pitch in the home opener against the red sox in 2012, he blew the lead. He gave up runs when I saw him pitch last week against the red sox. He can throw 95 mph but his pitches always find a bat. I would never trust him to be a closer. Santos was a "fools gold " trade. He is on a cheap contract , but he isn't worth the 5 innings pitched in 2012 & 10 innings pitched so far in 2013
  13. There ae always something weird happening to the Jays at the Trop. The place is haunted. I am always nervous with Santos on the mound.
  14. Another Home Run for EE!!! I justtook my Encarnacion's parrot shirt out of the dryer. Very impressed with Redmond. I saw him pitch against the red sox last tuesday
  15. Agreed. That was an agonizing year when AA had spreadsheets on all the potential managers. He picked Farrell who only wanted to stay for a year with the Jays before he wanted out. I wonder what Farrell would have done with this team in 2013.? I prefer Gibby's in game management. His bullpen management is better than Farrel. The bating order usually makes sense except Izturis in the 2 spot.
  16. I am happy that Lawrie is playing better. I hope AA keeps him at 3B in 2014. I didn't like the switch to 2B earlier this season.
  17. one caller last night suggested that the Jays should encourage a special rivalry with the Rays. He suggested that the Rogers Centre hold a special night where a real life Blue Jay ( bird) would fight with a Sting Ray from Tampa. There would be two part series whereby the Blue Jay would have a special iron man suit to be able to fight the sting ray in water. Part 2 would be the Ray fighting the blue Jay on Land. The caller suggested the Blue Jay would kill the Sting Ray in the water. Wilner went along with the caller & said a tech company could sponser the event. The caller said if the Blue Jay killed the Sting ray , the rays would change the team name to the Ray Jays. If not, the Blue Jays would change their name to the Blue Rays. There was no word whether Bud Selig would approve animal fights to the death before an mlb game.
  18. the bigger problem with Cito is that AA wasn't given a chance o start fresh in 2010 with his own manager. Ironically, AA's best record as a GM is with Cito & JP Riccardi roster in 2010.
  19. That's another example of strange moves by AA. AA tells the media that Bonifacio is a hidden gem with multiple tools, yet he dump him after 100 games. Why did Bonifacio regress with the Jays? It wasn't injury related. Look at Aaron Hill's career since he left the Jays.
  20. The maricon incident made the Jays look like an anti gay organization. That's unacceptable & AA had to dump Escobar. Mccown was demanding that escobar be suspended for the rest of the season. The problem is that AA signs Omar Visquel to be a mentor to the Latino & other players. He doesn't do his job & Escobar is allowed to wear anti gay eye patches. Fail on both counts. Furthermore, Gregg Zaun aid that non latino players knew what the word Maricon meant, so anyone could have warned Escobar not to wear that eye patch. AA got screwed because he had to give up a player he got at a discount from Atlanta, & dump him at a fire sale price to the Marlins.
  21. Very true. It's ironic that a fan captured the maricon note on Yunel's eye patch. The picture went viral. The Jays were forced to suspend Yunel . Media went crazy. Yunel gets traded for peanuts in the offseason. I blame the Jays coaching staff & latino players in the clubhouse who didn't tell him to take the patch off. I doubt Maddon would let him wear a Maricon patch
  22. I didn't know much about RAD last December. I thought it was weird that AA would go after a 38 year old knuckleballer. However, he was the best available potential free agent ( 1 year at low $$) on his contract). It's obvious that AA went all in for 2013, & hoped having Dickey, would be the cherry on the sundae to guarantee a playoff spot.
  23. Good point about playoff tickets. I have owned flex pack tickets for 3 seasons, so I was thinking about getting playoff tickets. I did reserve tickets for the season finale against Tampa because I thought they would be clinching a playoff spot that weekend. With new paradigm of Jays spending a minimum 125-140 million in 2014 , they should be able to upgrade the rotation, 2B & Catcher.
  24. I think the trade showed Jays fans that Rogers was willing to bump up payroll to 125 million range which make it comparable to other big market franchises. For too many years, Jays fans had to hope that the prospects hype machine would work out. It didn't , so I would rather build the way AA did. If the Jays could develop talent like the Rays or A's. then it would be a different story , but the Jays have not shown an ability to develop home grown talent yet
  25. Who gets traded? Romero? I could see AA signing Rasmus to a long term contract. Jays need a better catcher & 2B. I could Lind being traded after his contract is picked up. Melky moves to DH.
