  1. Wilner's defense of Coco Codera last year was inexcusable.
  2. Since Wilner was suspended in June 2010 for arguing with Cito, he has become a Rogers apologist. He rarely criticized Farrell despite Farrell's poor bullpen management. He is googly eyed for Gibby. On the plus side, his play by play calling is improving. I suspect when Jerry retires. it will be Hayhurst & Wilner doing Play by Play.
  3. I would agree with DFA Blanco , & hopefully he accepts assignment to Buffalo. Jays need some better at bats with Thole. Thole has experience catching Dickey & could be used in more games as a pinch hitter etc... JPA in cleanup position cannot be a long term solution.
  4. +1.This was a much needed win. I expected Buerhle to fall apart against the red sox.
  5. I totally agree with you. If Lind was facing tough lefties, he would be failing again. No point for the Jays to spend 7 milion on a bench player for 2014.
  6. I think Lind is better this year. He takes walks . He is starting to hit for some power. The problem I have with Lind is that he needs a platoon partner which this year is Rajai Davis. So you have to add Rajai Davis salary + Adam Lind. Lind can't run, so he needs a pinch runner as well. If lind was hitting 290 with OBP 330, & 25 HR +, I would tell AA, go ahead & resign him. Unfortunately, it will make more sense for AA to pay $2 million for the buyout & find a power hitting DH. Morneau? Someone else? It's sad because when i started following the Jays, Lind was a star in 2009. He bragged that he & Aaron Hill carried the team in 2009.
  7. I had the pleasure of meeting Casey Janssen at the Blue Jays Camp out at Rogers Centre in May 2011. He was very friendly & said they were doing everything possible to get JoJo Reyes his first win of the year. Casey has been incredible as a closer . Jays fans have had to suffer bad closers with Coco , John Rauch , bad BJ Ryan, Kevin Gregg etc.. When Casey is on the mound my blood pressure goes down.
  8. I doubt AA picks up his option for 2014. He still can't hit LHP. Can only play 1B on defense. Jays need a better DH for 2014.
  9. LOL!.Morrow has never had 30+ starts in a season. It's the first time I can recall him having back spasms. My new goal for 2013 is to be happy if the red sox don't make the playoffs. I hate the smug John Farrell & Red Sox Nation. It would be hilarious if the Yankees made the playoffs with the Jays B squad.
  10. Fans should be happy that Buerhle had his first excellent start of the year.
  11. Would we rather have Izturis at SS & Bonifacio at 2B every day. Kawasaki is the best the team can do until Reyes get back.
  12. OK, I didn't see the other Wilner thread. I love it when Wilner corrects corrects the callers grammar.
  13. This is a thread to discuss the latest comments from Mike Wilner's Jays Talk. Jays Talk can be hilarious after every loss when fans call up to complain & Mike shots them down. Mike like to confuse some fans by cherry picking stats & being as optimistic as possible about the Jays. I like Mike but sometimes he gets desperate to efend his point of view.
  14. Beeston was interviewed yesterday on FAN590, & he said Rogers is patient & there will not be a fire sale . Having Bonifacio in getting regular playing time in the OF would be a mistake. He isn't as good an OF as I thought.
  15. Hi Gordie, Yes I post a lot on drunkjaysfans.. The comments section on DJF has some technical issues , so it's hard to reply directly to comments.
  16. Hi everyone.I am very impressed with the quality of discussion on this board. I am a former Expos fan that became a die hard Jays fan in 2008. I used to post regularly on the bluejays message board with over 7,000 posts.
  17. You make a lot of good points. The Jays would look better with Jose Reyes playing 150 games a year. Josh Johnson has always been an injury risk. I think the Jays had to get Buerhle as the price for Reyes. It's funny that everyone was happy he was coming to the Jays because he could throw 200 innings a season without getting hurt. Of course, if he keeps it up, 200 innings at 6+ ERA would be historically bad. I think he should improve. The Dickey trade was confusing. AA never struck me as someone who would like a "gimmick " pitcher. I suppose it looked good on paper getting a Cy young winner. I think that better days are ahead for the Jays but playoffs are almost impossible at this point.
