  1. I do wonder about next year's ticket sales. I renewed my flexpacks before the big trades. I believe many people bought flexpacks to get tickets to the home opener.
  2. Good Job Joey Bats! RIP Derek
  3. Sad but true. I had a quesy feeling at the home opener & a week later when they got blown out by the red sox with Dicky on the mound. Hopefully we can rebound next year like the red sox did this year.
  4. I have been on holidays in Europe for the past few weeks. No baseball coverage in France. The season has been depressing since opening day except for the 11 game winning streak.
  5. I don't agree. AA's weight gain is probably the result of stress of building the team. It hasn't worked out this year, but the track record of these players is better than they have shown. The team could even finish close to 500 this year,
  6. It would have been great if the team could have started spedning in 2012. I could see why Rogers was afraid to spend 100 million on a japanese pitcher that had never pitched in the MLB.
  7. That's true. The Jays had a disastrous August & September. I am hopeful that the team will play better in the second half with the return of Lawrie &Melky & Morrow. Jays have a good chance of winning 80 plus games.
  8. Very true. Two of the three All Star Jays were sent to the minors before recovering. Ricky Romero All Star 2014???
  9. Good News!. He deserves it. Last year he was demoted to the minors.
  10. Very good point. I assume AA would get a 72 hr window to negotiate an extension with Garza. Does Garza have a no trade clause?
  11. I think that Stoeten has reduced his attacks on the fan base that posts there. It's not good for business. Parkes works on another blog now.
  12. He won a batting title in Las Vegas.
  13. Exactly. The team has to get into the playoffs by 2015. If not, AA & Beeston will likely be fired. A rebuild could begin in 2016.
  14. In yesterday's Toronto Star they reported that the Jays are averaging 511K viewers. The home opener drew 1.3 million. If the Jays were winning ratings would be about 1 million. Attendance is very good. I would expect that Rogers is willing to spend more money to keep the team competitive & interest strong. It would be foolish from a business perspective to go into a "rebuild mode". before 2015.
  15. One caller got into a huge fight with Wilner yesterday over JPA. He demanded that Wilner provide 5 reasons why JPA was a very valuable catcher. Wilner was caught off guard & talked about his HR's. It was fun to listen to. Wilner is usually on the offense.
  16. Yes Wilner has to listen to some fans that are not knowledgeable but that's his job. Wilner has to start being more realistic about the Jays players. JPA is not a #toptencatcher. Bonifacio does not know how to bunt. Josh Johnson does not deserve a 7 year 150 million contract. Wilner has to wake up & realize that the team is at 500. They are underperforming their expectations.
  17. This is true. Wilner has become more of a corporate shill over the past few years. His cherry picking of stats to advance his agenda is silly.
  18. Very true. The Rays are still competitive & if they played outside Florida they would have money to keep their star players.
  19. Agreed. Josh Johnson, Wang & even Rogers could end up blowing up. We will probably need Romero,Morrow & Happ this year. Could Hutch or Drabek be ready by September?
  20. I disagree. The Jays have numerous examples of players that have been DFA'd & come back better. Lind & Edwin were both DFA'd. Bautista was a nobody in 2008. Cecil was demoted to the minors last year. Romero could be a emergency starter later this year.
  21. I thought that Wilner was rude to the caller who said the Jays should make Johnson an offer he can't refuse. The caller was nervous & may have had a medical issue because he was stammering. Does Wilner really believe that any team will offer Josh Johnson 7/150 in the offseason? That is very unlikely. Wilner did explain that if the Jays are in the playoff race in July &they will keep him for the year & make a qualifying offer & take the draft picks. If the Jays are out of the race at the end of July, they will trade him at the deadline. I assume AA will know by the end of the year if Romero,Drabek & Hutchison will be ready for 2014. If we
  22. Very good points Mac I think his laid back southern drawl,"King of the Hill" persona is ideal for this team. I don't hear any complaints from the players when they are moved around in the lineup. Gibby's bullpen management has been great. Farrell would drive fans nuts by refusing to do logical matchups. I also like Gibby's defensive substitutions in late innings. What surprises me is that no other mlb team let him manage after the Jays in 2008. Why did that happen? He seems happy to be here whereas Farrell wants to be a star for the red sox.
  23. I went there & tried to be reasonable with them. The GDT thread on mlb had 41 comments. That's pretty low.
  24. You need bullpen arms because you never know if Rogers or Chi Ming Wang will fall apart. You may need a 7 inning bullpen . Jays have also played extra inning games. Ginbby knows how to manage a bullpen.
