  1. I would rather see Lind 4th against RHP than JPA. I prefer the original lineup. Lawrie,Melky,Bautista,Edwin.
  2. I hope Jenkins can stay with the team. I would rather watch him than one of AA's DFA candidates. Where did Laffey end up signing?
  3. Jenkins looks a bit tired after 5 innings. Bullpen for the 6th? Tomorrow is an offday.
  4. I must say I am very impressed by Jenkins. He was a first round pick by the Jays in 2009. After watching Romero & the other starters generally perform poorly, it's refreshing to b able to watch a game where the starting pitching has been solid.
  5. Well said. Jays inability to develop prospects has been a huge problem. I would set that issue up as a seperete thread.
  6. I agree that it was a desperate move. I agree that the media seems to do very little tough follow up on the Jays. Hiding Ricky in Dunedin was smart from the Jays perspective because no media outlet would send a reporter to Florida to find out why Ricky wasn't pitching. The handling of Travis Snider was a travesty, especially when LF was held by Corey Patterson & Fred Lewis. Juan Rivera wasn't great either in LF. The Jays weren't going to the playoffs in 2010 or 2011 or 2012, so why didn't they just let Snider play when he wasn't hurt? He was a top prospect for the Jays & showed flashes of power. He was also a pretty good defender. Snider deserves his own thread, but I wonder what the Jays are planning to do with Ricky. My fear is that they will dump him & he will end up being a 4th starter or better in the national League. Jojo Reyes got steady work in the past, so Ricky could as well.
  7. The injuries to the rotation are worrisome. Last year the young pitchers kept getting hurt & needed Tommy John. This year it's back troubles with an experienced rotation. Johnson has always had injury problems. Happ was a fluke injury. Romero's problems are simply strange. Morrow has never pitched a full season.
  8. I agree that the bench isn't a top priority. Was Izturis the best 2B available? Teahan was useless. Kelly Johnson struck out too much but was solid defensively. Aaron Hill performed poorly as a Blue Jay in 2010 & 2011 but sure enough had a great 2012 as a Diamondback. As for Catcher , I would bring up Thole.
  9. Good point about the media accepting whatever AA says. I realize that Rogers media owns the Jays, but the handling of Romero is becoming as baffling as what they did with Travis Snider. I recall 2 years ago they said they would let Snider stay up all year then they optioned him back to AAA. Why didn't Romero pitch in any spring games throughout April? Was he taking it easy?
  10. You could be right about that. I guess DJF was independent up until last year & the Score bought them? That makes sense. It was and still is very easy to put up a fake screen name at DJF , so I had a few clowns that were impersonating me . I would then get slammed by Stoeten or other posters for making ridiculous statements, which were not mine. Stoeten could have double checked IP addreses. Anyways, it's just baseball , but they do a pretty good job of covering the Jays year round.
  11. Since AA became GM in October 2009, the Jays seem to always have a weak bench relative to their AL East competitors. Is this a blind spot on AA's part? I know building a strong bench isn't a top priority, but our back up catcher can't hit or run. Davis can run , but he is only effective against LHP as a hitter. Izturis or Boni have not been effective this year. Bonifacio should stop trying to bunt. The Jays have not had a power bat off the bench in a few years. I vaguely recall an old guy from New Brunswick in 2008 who had a good bat. He may have ended up with the Phillies. Thoughts?
  12. LOL!. Stoeten goes nuts when he gets called a Rogers employee. He works for the part of the Score that was NOT sold to Rogers. I do agree that they are more reluctant to criticize the Jays now that they are part of the "established media". I think Stoeten is allowed to visit the Jays Press Clubhouse. Stoeten has been accused of being a "Mini Wilner." because of his reluctance to criticize the Jays.
  13. Stoeten is smart but he got too angry at fans who were upset with the Jays performance this year. He was mad at fans who booed the team. He had far too many posts this year complaining about his followeres as opposed to what was going on with the team. It's still a very entertaining site to read about baseball. I think Parkes works on a different website, Getting Blanked or Fanatico, but he hardly gets any comments. Drew has a good radio voice.
  14. It will be very tough to get the wildcard with 4 strong teams in the AL East. As long as the Yankees or Red Sox don't win the AL East, I am happy. Looking forward to the return of Jose Reyes.
  15. OK. but has Gibby explained to the media why JPA is batting cleanup? A pitcher knows JPA won't take a walk, so just make him hit anything you give him. Lind against LHP batting cleanup doesn't make sense either. If Lawrie could get hot that would help. He should focus on the batting cage & stop fighting followers on twitter.
  16. Can anyone explain to me the logic of JPA hitting 4th? He doesn't walk. He can hit HR's but he's more of an all or nothing guy. What's Gibby up to with this move? I find the constant batting order changes to be distracting.
  17. So if you were AA, would you trade Romero at the end of the year if he stays in AAA all year? On opening Day we had 6 relatively reliable MLB calibre pitchers. Romero is pitching so poorly, that AA would probably be reluctant to bring him up again. There must be something else to the Romero "loss of confidence" story that the media is unaware of. Has this fall off ever happened to the Jays pitching staff before die to non physical issues?
  18. Stoeten has come after me for making comments he disagrees with. He is pretty "pithy" & likes to use profanity to win an argument. However, I had a technical problem with the site & I emailed him. He responded pretty quickly & was polite. I think Stoeten is much more reasonable in terms of baseball philosophy on his podcasts. DJF has become very popular over the years & I think it allows Stoeten & Drew & Parkes to make a full time living talking & writing about baseball which is pretty impressive. I like Archi Zuber's posts & Drew Fairservice has a good radio personality. Parkes comes across as a baseball snob who supports the San Francisco Giants. This new board has the best technical set up I have ever seen with the editing features, post counts etc....Kudos to whoever developed the software.
  19. You're right. I have never seen a pitcher who is supposedly physically OK, fall off a cliff in terms of performance. I would be happier if the Jays disclosed that he had elbow problems. It's just unbelievable that he gets bombed in Louisville. Are the Jays tying to teach Ricky a lesson? Leaving Ricky in the game for the three innings is similar to humiliating Patrick Roy when he allowed 8 goals against Detroit. I wonder if Ricky Romero will request a trade to another team?
  20. One of the best troll calls on Wilner last year was done by someone who either posted on DJF or the old BlueJays.com board. Can't remember the screen name. The caller said he was happy that Alan Ashby was back on the radio ( he was away for a few games). Wilner agreed. Then the caller said that Ashby was much better that the substitute they had on replace Ashby which was Wilner. Wilner replied in his whiny voice, "but that was me". It was so funny. Wilner seemed to be genuinely hurt. A problem I have with Wilner is that he will quote small sample sizes when it's in his favor then dismiss a caller who does it when it opposes his position.
  21. There is a radio show on Fan590 called Baseball Central with Jeff Blair & Dirk Hayhurst. The show is on at 11 am every weekday & is available on podcast. I enjoy the banter between Blair & Hayhurst. Hayhurst likes to quote advanced stats. Blair is more "old school". It's nice to have a baseball specific show during the day. Blair has a very good rapport with Gibby who is on the show almost everyday. Anyone else listen to this show? Thoughts?
  22. LOL!. You're right . Wilner would blast me for that ))
  23. I wuld love to do that. Wilner relies on uniformed callers so he can look smarter than he really is.
