  1. AA acquired Dickey because he valued his contract. I mean sure AA may think Price is a more valuable piece, but he'd be out of character to acquire 1 year of Price.
  2. I said to most people close to me that I would become a Rays fan if this organization went into 2014 with JP Arencibia as our starting catcher. Now that that's done, I'd like to see nature take its course with this roster and hopefully by 2015 Alex and Co. are all fired. New people step in and we can start to project a well structured lineup again like its 2011.
  3. Considering we'll never again have a combination of Jose/Edwin/Reyes.. Why the f*** not. Of course you have to factor in Alex Anthopolous and his ability to turn prospects into nothing. I guarantee you with the support of his co-workers (rest of the FO), he'd be trading our 3rd and 4th best prospects for Papelbon.
  4. Until we can turn a position player into an MLB regular, I just don't care. Most of these prospects are smoke and mirrors and will inevitably fall off a cliff by 2015. It's how this organization operates.
  5. The AA of old would've acquired Ackley a year ago. This new guy we've got, he'll just keep trying to convince the Reds to take Stroman for Phillips.
  6. The thought of the Yanks losing Cano and potentially Kuroda was a really pleasant idea for like 5 hours.
  7. It'd be pretty silly to do so. Aaron Sanchez hasn't thrown 91 innings in a full MiLB season yet. We're not talking about a 32 start arm for a few years either.
  8. Either way it doesn't matter. Our front office doesn't have the leverage nor leash to start trading what they think are helpful players for prospects. Two years MAX and they're all on their way out. Alex is all about NOW NOW NOW.
  9. 3rd best prospects aren't interchangeable. Meadows would be our best prospect and it wouldn't even be close.
  10. Right because a guy who was slated to go first overall for the majority of draft season that happened to do extremely well early on is clearly a guy the Pirates are hoping to trade for Adam Lind. Also 177 at bats is obviously not substantial, but he's no Jacob Anderson.
  11. Hold on a minute, the name Austin Meadows was brought up in this thread? The guy who the Pirates watched slash .316/.423/.554 in his first 177 bats with the organization? Yeah um, let's not be THOSE kinds of fans.
  12. Lincoln's fastball just couldn't get by batters. It looked electric, but got squared up far too often. I did really enjoy his 2012 curveball though which he seemed to get away from last year. In other news.. Travis Snider no longer has any fingerprints on this organization.
  13. Yeah and I guess the magical water they have up there doesn't hurt. Oh and winning too I suppose.
  14. Lol. Why is it so easy for them? At what point do teams just look elsewhere.
  15. In regards to Anderson vs Garza, I tend to lean towards Garza based on this grouping of players. There should be a larger emphasis on fastball effectiveness over having a plus slider. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=y&type=7&season=2013&month=0&season1=2008&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=3,d If we can get Garza without getting fleeced by Beane and actually buying relatively low on him by free agent standards.. Alex would salvage a lot of lost value.
  16. Great get for the Rays. I remember lots of the people in this thread (myself included) wondering what the hell the Reds were doing playing Hanigan over Mesoraco with such regularity. I guess I've learned over the past few years that a .340 OBP (minimum) and plus plus defense isn't something that grows on trees. I look forward to the Rays getting 4 Wins out of Hanigan.
  17. I just feel like Gentry was made to play in Oakland. I also don't see Choice going all Cargo on the A's, I think it's worth risking.
  18. HUDSON.. Wow let's get this done immediately.
  19. Used to love his assortment of plus pitches.
  20. Sometimes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes... I mean this just looks nonsensical. You can't really even try to defend or justify it. Good job by the Nationals?
  21. They'll play on SportsnetONE. Who cares? They're never NOT going to air a bluejays game on TV. NHL playoffs will probably push them off their main Sportsnet broadcast, but when hasn't it? The CHL has absolutely zero effect on the Blue Jays.
  22. It doesn't mean anything for the Jays. The only thing that matters for the Jays is not being the worst Toronto based sports team. Fix that and everything goes up.
  23. The Lansing trio was always too good to be true.
  24. Trading a "rock solid closer with the mental toughness to pitch in the AL East" for a guy with a career .350 SLG just doesn't seem to fit the criteria for what our GM values. However, I agree. It'd be brilliant.
