  1. it's a one year deal, I really doubt he's going to s*** the bed next year. Why would he only get 5 million? Who will be as productive next season for $10M? I'm treating him as a stop gap until we can bridge over to 2017. He fits that roll completely well. This is all with saying IF he fetches a good piece through trade. If an NL team see him valuable enough to give us a solid piece for him (or a package of him and someone like Revere, etc) I say we pull the trigger and get Colon through free agency. Overall I think we'll benefit more this route
  2. Hey, numbers don't lie, and his numbers are great
  3. That was basically it from what I remember at the time. I thought it was weird why we gave up on him so quickly. That season as a whole was weird, we got off to a great start that season, Hill and Lind looked like all-stars for the future, but you had Wells and Rios who struggled. We gave Kevin Millar a whole bunch of starts too for god knows what reason. Bautista and Ruiz though lol, went out with a bang that year. Man I hate JP Riccardi, I remember when his face went on the jumbotron in the last game of the season thanking fans... f*** him lol
  4. All I'm saying is if. I doubt many people would have give Donaldson for Lawrie + but it happened, maybe we can get a solid piece in exchange for Dickey we pull the trigger and get Colon, I don't think the tradeoff would be too big
  5. I agree with you. Lawrie and Arencibia probably didn't take the advice from Bautista and EE to just walk and wait for your pitch, to come to the plate with a plan instead of wanting to gulf every pitch outside the stadium, they came off as arrogant players with huge egos. Especially with the hype the had coming up as batters from the minor leagues, they probably thought that they're good enough for the majors and they don't need no help.
  6. First year of success true, but also the first GM to be successful after 2 GMs failed before him and 22 years of no success. I think his stock has risen greatly, especially with the Donaldson deal still fresh in people's minds
  7. Alright so Dickey vs. Colon: 2.4 vs. 3.8 2.6 vs. 2.8 3.6 vs. 2.4 Interesting, especially this season Dickey came back. I still think that if Dickey brings great value on the market, trade him and sign Colon.
  8. How do you evaluate them fairly in this case? If RA-9 favours Dickey more and fWAR is used to evaluate essentially everyone else what's the best way to compare? Dickeys RA-9 vs. Colon's fWAR?
  9. Isn't RA9-WAR skewed in favour of RA Dickey? Dickey fWAR 13' - 1.7 14' - 1.7 15' - 2.1 Colon fWAR 13' - 3.8 14' - 2.8 15' - 2.6 We should keep comparisons based on one metric, not skew the metric to something else in favour of a player lol
  10. Its ok Murphy will hit the game winning homer
  11. Well RA is going into 41! RA walks the park and relies on the knuckleball. When that pitch is flat it becomes batting practice. The worst BB/9 put up in the past 4 years by Colon is 1.37 BB/9. He should be fine. I'm more inclined to trust Colon who's had recent and past history of success than RA who's a bang for 200+ IP and a mediocre mid-4 FIP
  12. He's had 190+ IP in the past 3 years, 2 of which is in the NL where they get pulled early. Barring any sort of major health problems he should be getting 200 IP easy
  13. Trade Dickey after picking up the option and sign Colon. Much better option IMO and he'll cost us probably $10M on a one year contract. His BB/9 numbers are so sexy and guaranteed 200 IP
  14. I thought it was funny lol
  15. JD seems like the Bautista type of teammate where he comes off as a douche but would put the team first in everything
  16. I'm arab so you got one more minority representative lol
  17. Isn't this like the chicken or the egg problem? Good chemistry and winning usually go hand in hand, but which one actually comes first is the question. I thought we always had relatively good chemistry but that wasn't really talked about before, not even until after the deadline deals really when we went on a tare. People pointed to people like Rasmus as bad clubhouse dudes with no winning mentality, yet he had a great season in Houston and helped them get a postseason spot. No one seems to speak positively about chemistry until teams start winning. How many times have people got at winning teams for bad chemistry? I don't remember any.
  18. Is he??? I had no idea we hired anyone yet to be honest
  19. I think it will be an interesting situation that can turn very good. If egos don't clash, but instead they discuss ideas together, it would be a great partnership. I personally like people who have different philosophies working together, generates more ideas and less bad moves happen because every small thing will be discussed.
  20. Nah, he said in the conference that he told both Beeston and Shapiro that he didn't want to discuss extension until the season was over. Shapiro is taking over November 1st and AA's contract is up October 31st, I think it will be a couple of days before the decision is made of keeping him vs. not.
  21. I agree but I don't think Reyes helped get us Tulo, it was just a salary dump lol. Instead of the Rox eating salary we gave them Reyes and his contract instead basically lol
  22. Ohhhh I see, gotcha!
