  1. Yes that's true but Rogers owns everything related to the team. The station that broadcasts the games, the ballpark, the team, etc. That's major compared to other MLB teams where they have one single owner and that's it. It doesn't compensate for the drop in the Canadian dollar, but the revenue they're seeing should be huge, especially with the post-season run
  2. Does it really play a role for a company as big as Rogers? I'm sure they have accounts with USD in case the dollar was to dip as it is now, and other foreign investments as well. I don't think it will that big of a factor.
  3. Probably. When was the last time a starter hit FA without AL experience? We see a lot of trades like Hamels and Gallardo where NL pitchers get dealt at the deadline, but not hit FA without any prior AL experience. Peavy kinda? Got traded from SD to Chicago at the deadline in contract year then resigned with the Sox, had a bumpy first year but his last 2 were solid
  4. Do you think we pick up Dickey's option and keep him as our #5 because of this? $12MM for around 2 fWAR? How much is the $-per-WAR right now anyways?
  5. He passed on him? I thought he just couldn't come to agreement with the Padres?
  6. Hmm interesting. Still wouldn't mind taking a shot with him over here. I have a feeling he'd fit in well here. I mean look at Bautista and JD, If they weren't on our teams we'd think they're self-centred, arrogant, pricks (some people think that as Jays fans too) but they mesh really well here.
  7. Are you sure you linked the right article? He seems like a honest guy who, like Tulo, harsh idea of business in baseball because of past experiences with GMs (Traded 8 days after being told he was staying and never being called was a dick move by Byrnes). Also seems like he wants people off electronics and cheering the team on... which is what you're supposed to do (I thought there as a ban on cellphones during the game for ballplayers?). He didn't come off as a dick in this particular interview, just overly honest maybe. Even spoke great levels about his teammates in Cincy. I wouldn't mind signing him to the 3/39 deal you mentioned either to be honest
  8. Someone posted about him having attitude problems. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but I think he'll be fine in the clubhouse here. Cincy's clubhouse environment seems really bad (Phillips has said made stupid comments about Votto and his salary many times over). Between that, him having a 'bad' season last year, and AA's past interest it's hard not to think that we'll be going after him hard.
  9. Latos is an option. He's been banged up a couple of times but he's put up nearly or over 200 innings in 4 of his last 6 seasons. Then again I'm just going off stats, i haven't seen him pitch this season or much of the last season
  10. There's a name I haven't seen in a long time! What's up gibbers! I agree with what you said say tho, I think Latos might come here for cheap and he'd be a nice addition, QO to Estrada and avoid Lackey. One quick side question for you guys, how much do you guys see Colon getting? I think the Mets will part ways with him and he might come through on a 1 year deal if he knows he has a chance on a ring.
  11. Hmm I was under the impression that he'd be looking for 5+ because of how young he his, but I guess he'd wanna be a free agent by age 30. Still $13M for a glass player? He sounds intriguing but i just can't look past his injury history, especially when he's going to be getting paid as much as a solid starter with limited injury history. We'll see how FA pans out I guess, AA was interested in Brett Anderson before (wanted to deal Yuni to the A's a few summers ago)
  12. The club of drowning in assignments and studies? Welcome aboard! LOL
  13. My brain's cooked lol
  14. I was personally thinking Estrada would take 3/30. Didn't know that there are 5 teams looking to sign him for $12-15MM AAV lmao. I'd still offer him that and see if he takes it, before we make a decision on the QO. If he doesn't, offer the QO and hope he signs elsewhere.
  15. He costed the Dodgers $10MM this past year, with him not throwing a full season since his debut season. He threw up great numbers this last year, there's no way he's signing for less than that $10MM deal plus he'll want a longer term contract too. I don't know if we should take that big of a risk.
  16. I guess but his injury history is worse than many other pitchers. Most starting pitchers can go at least 20 starts in a season. He got paid $10MM this year by the Dodgers, I wouldn't be surprised if he's seeking that much again (maybe more) across a longer term deal. There isn't much guarantee that he's going to be healthy for most of his tenure. Would it still be worth the risk at that point?
  17. You want to give Price $35MM for the first 3 years??? No thank you lol
  18. If there are teams willing to give him that we should give him a QO, hopes he rejects, get a draft pick and move on.
  19. Last season was his first full season since his debut season (unless you want to count in his 2010 season as well). I don't know if we can rely on him to hold up for an entire season.
  20. I feel like if we give the money Price is asking for, we're going to be so screwed near the end of it. The recent payouts to other aces, and the length of said payout, scares me tbh
  21. I would hope 3/30M would be the max to get Estrada
  22. Can we get Bartolo on the cheap on a 1 year deal? Maybe he wants to win and would take a one year deal (if the Mets decide not to bring him back) to come over here, dude's old as dust but holy f*** his walk rate is low as s***. Ground Ball% went up too last year. He might be beneficial enough for the team next year. Then again maybe I just want Bartolo next season because he's Bartolo lol
  23. Maybe AA will try signing Latos, wasn't he interested in him before the Cincy trade?
  24. Was a great team? Still is the best freaking team in the AL!
  25. I never liked Cecil as a closer anyways and it's not like it was the wrong decision, Osuna had a hell of a year and it gave us the chance to have a lefty we can use instead of reserving him exclusively in the 9th. Personally speaking I think Gibby's BP management is going to improve with a better pen. All around he's not as bad as people make him to be, but when games are as crucial as the postseason/in the chase for the AL East crown, every small issue becomes magnified
