  1. Their dollars count just as much as anyone. It doesn't matter if they don't attain your own arbitrary definition of fan. Where were their dollars in the mid-late 90's? A real baseball fan doesn't stop being a fan. That's finally starting now, but that's why people have been upset with Rogers. The Jays big money comes and goes. Big market money sticks around for a bit, its not cyclical in small windows of contention.
  2. I saw a guy I thought looked like you....wasn't sure.
  3. So when the Selig's, Bettman's, Stern's or Gooddel's say they're advised to do what's best for the league, its really a lie? I know the Yankee & Mets owner would want it veto'd but I can't see how any other market like Portland, Montreal or Charlotte make sense. I've heard some baseball people from NC, give numerous valid reasons why Charlotte won't fly. Montreal is a worse situation than the Jays. The thing with the New York situation is, its a really divided city. Most Mets fans live in Queens, most Yankee fans the Bronx & Manhatten. I'm pretty sure Brooklyn would have its own niche of fans.
  4. Maybe those so-called fans should learn something about the sport or team. Just because there's a massive amount of people to go to games doesn't mean they count as fans. And if we're a large market IYO why hasn't the money been spent like we're a large market team? Over the long haul and looking at all 30 teams, the Jays are jockeying around 10th-12th for overall market size IMO. And fan interest and knowledge counts in my books.
  5. Pretty hard to win games when starters only get thru 3 to 5 innnings. I couldn't understand why the starters weren't left in games longer to eat innings even if they were getting their brains beat in. Alex shorted the bench for most of the year instead of forcing vet pitchers to pitch through problems. I f***ing hated the babying he did with the pitching staff, all the while watching Melky hobble around in the OF and causing Gose to become disenchanted in the minors watching s*** RP's and SP's getting the call, all the while the guy ahead of him was injured. The last person I thought would go was Mottola . Only thing it could be is he never got along with the rest of the coaching staff and AA blamed him for the Bonifacio ugliness. Lets face it Boni was Aa,s guy and he hit in KC What's Boni's line the rest of his career?
  6. John Tortorella may be one of the most engaged coaches in hockey, but by no means does that make him one of the best.
  7. I agree about Scioscia, but wow, gibbons looks like he needs a kick every few pitches to keep his eyes open. He doesnt look like he cares one bit about any of this anymore. Even Butter is clapping and jumping when he is standing in the dugout. I HATE boston but Gib wouldnt last two seconds there. Look the damn part. Some people are wired different. And just because these guys are in the public eye, doesn't mean they should cave into the public's idea of what they want them to be. I remember Delgado getting hammered publicly about not being a raw-raw team leader. Well that wasn't his personality and he sure as f*** wasn't gonna change for the fans or his teammates. "Remember yunel that lazy ass(who didn't run out his double play last night either), and Rios. They looked lazy, and still do, and we all bitched about it." Yep, we all bitched about it. But there comes a point where talent + lazy, intersects with talent and tries hard all the time. And until the guy that tries hard all the time surpasses the guy who is lazy, I'll take lazy all day long.
  8. Off topic, were you at the final home game of the season vs the Rays?
  9. Sounds like Olerud may have just outted himself as having an alternate account.
  10. ......and basically told us the fan base that we were stupid canadians who had no clue about baseball. When you look at the entire fanbase and compare it against its 29 peers, JP was bang on IMO. "I don't agree with AA gutting our minor leagues but he at least built one. I also believe Rogers and Beeston pushed these moves . I don't think AA would have done it had it been his choice ." If that's the case and Alex had no say in what happened then he should spitefully bury the farm and go all-in leaving Beeston and Rogers holding the bag of sh*t at the end.
  11. Rolen was a free agent? Interesting.
  12. Shakes head.....And we need a manager with an extensive history of Championships and is loved by all....oh wait there aren't any. Why do people suggest sh*t if they don't have an answer.
  13. I beg to differ on Stoeten being the "voice of the fan" ever. Seriously....go to a game and look at how people behave or listen to conversations around you. As a collective they never were or are even close to what Stoeten has ever been. I've never like the guy, but he's miles better than the Jays fans who attend games.
  14. If they controlled his message, wouldn't his blogs be free of profanity-laced tirades?
  15. There's no way GD is 13 or 16, or whatever he claims to be.
  16. Brooklyn. More media love/exposure, more money, better location, better fans.
  17. What team(s) do you plan on following? You ever watch an Angels game? Scioscia's always been at the rail as well. Long ago was considered one of the leagues best managers. Now, either gone stale or just not liked even close to what he was.
  18. ????? Bunting isn't learned over the course of one year. It's a craft learned prior to being a pro' and needs to be constantly worked on and refined into pro' ball. And trying to teach a bunch of vets who were never taught to bunt, isn't gonna go over well.
  19. It's amazing how not having overpaid name players on a bloated payroll like the past isn't needed for Leaf fans to be happy. Why is it the Jays Front Office and fans feel they need to tread down that path?
  20. 3rd largest population market, correct? It's a shame the fans and owners don't act like it.
  21. But you live in Sweden, so what does it matter?
  22. Jay, it was the most electric crowd I've ever been in, at a game and arguably the most exciting/intense game I've been at.
  23. Balfour....the guy looks like a nerd but tries to come off as some tough guy, huffing and puffing on the mound and acting all nuts when he saves a game. Give it a rest.
