  1. Where are you getting the 1.5? Ah I see, so its based on KK being the starting CF, and generating 1.6 WAR in that role. While Steamer projects 4th OF usage, dropping the WAR to 1.2.
  2. I did a different approach, and looked at Steamer WAR projections for the 4th OF listed on good teams: TEX, Langford - 1.3 NYY, Grisham - 1.1 NYM, Marte - 1.1 LAD, Taylor - 0.9 HOU, Meyers - 1.0 CHC, PCA - 1.1 ATL, Kelenic - 1.0 ARI, Gurriel Jr - 1.1 Top comparables for KK as a 4th OF would be Grisham and PCA. In any event, KK's 1.2 WAR projection fits within the above group.
  3. Jones is the obvious choice based on that narrative.
  4. Objection!
  5. No need for the stupid LOL. KK's bat is projected to be 16% below average this year, and he's projected to deliver a grand total of 1.2 WAR over 378 PA (Steamer). He's also 34 yrs old and is not the defender he once was. As I said, he's a 4th OF on a good team.
  6. KK is a 4th OF on a good team
  7. I bet he has offers on the table for all 4
  8. Baseball markets itself to families and especially kids. Take your kid to the ballgame and all that. NFL not so much, if at all. The PR considerations are not the same.
  9. LF or DH for a while yet. I don't think he can even handle 1B, his footwork and hands are clumsy
  10. No it's not AAV for luxury tax. It's NPV for luxury tax.
  11. We are talking about PR here mate, not legal.
  12. From a PR POV which is what this discussion is about, being able to say found not guilty would be an easier pushback against the Bauer haters. The public wouldn't grasp or pay attention to the nuance you give.
  13. Got to wonder about the O's and their new owners though. They are in an ideal position to sign Soto to a FRONT loaded deal.
  14. Contracts can be back loaded. Any Soto deal will likely be backloaded + deferred salary. He'll be in range for the Jays.
  15. It's kind of important from a PR perspective, Spank-off. Would be easier for a team signing him if he had a not guilty or won a civil case. Guilty people are released every minute due to insufficient evidence. Bauer haters could make a lot of s*** for a team signing him.
  16. A good rule of thumb - playoff success is 50% team quality and 50% luck. As Jays fans everywhere know, having the best team does not mean winning the WS
  17. A correction - he was not "found not-guilty". There was no finding of guilt or innocence. Obviously his cause would be helped by a not guilty verdict or by winning a civil case, but he has neither.
  18. Absolutely, never said otherwise.
  19. Over what term? Over 6 years, of course not. We are just talking WAR expectation. $/WAR is a separate discussion.
  20. I assume you are lol at the 3 years. Term is impossible to say without the facts which neither of us have. Which is why the post is marked hypothetical.
  21. I don't think anyone has Belly as a 5+ WAR guy. But average 3 WAR over the life of the contract? That's not unreasonable, and a valuable player.
  22. Most fans probably wouldn't. A percentage would.
