Jays may not even have wanted a longer term. They've got a bunch of high priced Contracts to try and work out, and Orelvis or some other should be the cost controlled 3B of 2024 and beyond.
Or, between now and July, one or more of these prospects destroy the minors and rocket up the prospect list. In other words, there are two aspects, (1) the need for an upgrade, (2) the timing of the transaction. You want to optimize both.
Drew Rasmussen or Patrick Sandoval?

Julio Rodriguez
Josh Bell
My kid picked up the virus in December from her school. My wife, triple vaxxed, and myself, double vaxxed at the time, did not get it. We were all tested and all of us live in the same house, meals and games together, etc.
Anecdotal bu I have no doubt if we were not vaxxed it would probably have been fatal to my immune compromised wife. She’s had 4 jabs now btw.
Conforto wouldn’t be 4th of, he’d be one of 4 regulars. Gurriel is at 1st when vlad is resting or DH, Téo and George will get plenty of DH days. Conforto would effectively get starter reps.
I’d do it before the Chapman acquisition, it’s a fair deal. But now would rather keep these assets for in season deals for the inevitable needs that will arise.
