  1. He already did that. Not sure what kind of proven guy we could get this early in the season. The best course of action may be to allow/hope Dickey, MB improve rather than spending more assets to bring in new "proven" guys.
  2. They obviously can't be as bad as they've been to date. Rotation going to have to solidify pretty quickly to make a run.
  3. Hopefully his ailments are much of the cause of his inconsistency. Not that that's great news, tough for a 38 year-old to avoid nagging ailments, but I think Dickey still has better to give than he's shown thus far.
  4. Can't wait for him to pitch. This org needs a feel-good prospect story.
  5. Basically, we've eliminated the ability to go into much of a slump the rest of the way. One more 4 or 5 game losing streak would be tough to take.
  6. They just need *somebody* to pan out. Sure, perhaps this organization is just poor at developing their players to be successful at the major league level, but surely somebody can slip through the cracks and become a good player despite that.
  7. I think walk rate is part of a general philosophy of hitting. I don't think his walk rate is poor because he's distracted by his positional requirements, I think his walk rate is poor due to his general approach and pitch recognition.
  8. Yeah, no doubt he's overpaid, but he's better than what he's shown. I think. From a silver lining perspective, not giving up another run after the 7-run inning was a plus.
  9. He probably does get these ABs, but lets the pitcher off the hook. I recall one AB with ball four in the dirt and JPA went down and golfed it into CF as a lazy fly ball. Somehow, somebody needs to convince JPA that taking a walk is OK.
  10. I think if he gets the ball down and stops giving up so many homeruns, he'll be okay. Not great, but okay.
  11. He should check the cracks in the sofa. For crack. Cause he's looking for crack and people lose things all the time in cracks, and could you imagine? Crack in the cracks. The police could ask, "so, where did you get the crack?", and Otis would say, "funny story about this crack..." Probably lighten the mood of what I imagine would be a pretty tense situation.
  12. VETERAN He pitched to the score and didn't even know it.
  13. Wow, missed the 9th. Gotta find video of the homer.
  14. If I'm reading between the lines correctly...and I think I am...pretty sure JJ has died. #RIP #sadface
  15. Thanks for the update. Lind has almost become my favourite guy to watch at the plate.
  16. Rope? I'm betting they announce the guaranteed year + option extension any day now.
  17. I'd still give him another chance. Not to say he'll make it, but hopefully the time off, coupled with the fact that he won't be handed a spot anymore will wake him up somehow.
  18. If Buehrle ever needed to come up with a cluth, verterany performance, this would be it.
  19. Really pulling for him to find some control, somehow. Losing as many pitching prospects as we did over the winter, it would be nice to have near-MLB guy with good stuff emerge. Feel like anything we get from him (a la McGowan) is a bonus at this point.
  20. Drabek turning into anything useful would be such a nice bonus at this point.
  21. Not sure. I haven't heard anything about him in a couple of days.
  22. I noticed the same thing on my mobile. Not a huge deal, but it was nice not having to use the brain so much to remember where I left off.
  23. Was *this* the game that turns things around? For real? Feel like they've had a few games that were supposed to turn the tide, only to come out flat the next game. Fingers crossed!
