    There's pros and cons to AA. Some would say more cons than pros, others the opposite. At the end of the day, he's good enough for ownership and all this whining or excuse-making doesn't change a damn thing.

    It may mean that his bosses aren't that concerned with building or sustaining a playoff team. That's all I keep trying to point out. As much as some fret over AA, I'm more concerned with how the owners or the owner's representatives (i.e. the team prez), want the team to be run. So far, they've shown to be more interested in P.R. and tv ratings than in having the best-run MLB team on the planet which is what you and others keep whining about. The moment this team's owners decide they want the best-run baseball team is the moment AA or whomever the GM is at such time, will strive to achieve the owner's goal. If they don't get it done, out the door they go. The Rays' success starts with Sternberg and not with Friedman, same with the Cards. At least IMO.

    Yes it does. However, it tells me more about his bosses. As I've said, if in fact this report is true, then his bosses must be satisfied with the job he's doing.

    Neither would anyone else. As long as he keeps it quiet and doesn't hurt the Jays bargaining position, I wouldn't resent him for it.

    Don't get me wrong either, I'm not one of those who thinks firing AA is the answer. I've said many times it starts at the top and you move on down to the GM. Owners hire team presidents who then hire the GM. If AA continues as GM, it means the owners are satisfied with the job he's done. This report by Simmons is probably premature and pure speculation.

    Of course you're right, but what do you call the Yankees' roster with a 200+M payroll? LOL. I can't think of a word.

    You could add Miguel Castro to the list. Also Hutchison was drafted in 2009, but was largely developed during AA's tenure. Arguably, he was mishandled in the sense that he was rushed, but anyway. Also, the way it works is that the GM gets credit for drafting players. Just like he gets the blame for the busts. I don't remember the Jays having had a top ranked farm system prior to AA's arrival. At the end of the day though, he's had 5 years and the last 2 years has had a top 10 payroll. Things haven't worked out, but the owners may actually be satisfied with his job. We'll have to wait and see till there's official word.

    Hopefully these owners realize the actual baseball people have s*** the bed. I'd think they'd be interested in their team being well run.

    I'm not sure I've seen anyone call him an Ace. I think what some mean is that out of the 5 starters, they view him as the best of the bunch, but same thing was said about Hutchison earlier in the year. They should go after one of the top FA SP. Even after a guy like Masterson. We'll see what happens...
