Speaking of Alford, so far today: 0-1, 3-BB, 1-SO.
Urena: 2-3, with a 2B and a BB.
Tellez: 2-4 with 2-2B.
SRF: 5-IP, 4-H, 3-ER, 3-BB, 7-K.
Hoffman goes tomorrow again.
Yeah, which is why I said it was a good thing he got off to a good start. They also probably look at the fact that he was likely playing hurt. I think I heard somewhere that he lied about being sore to keep playing.
I'm definitely in the camp that thinks Pompey was not given enough time. Travis also had minimal experience and track record, good thing he got off to a good start or they may have sent him down as well.
Pillar should definitely be platooned with Carrera and they need another OF right now.
Bautista has been throwing for roughly a week now, although from a short distance, at least according to Davidi:

I don't think these fans want Sanchez, specifically to fail. However, they would rather see the team fail in order to get the GM fired rather than see the team make the playoffs which would = an extension for the F/O.
There are definitely some biases at work here. Same applies to the other side in that they act like homers quite a bit. Although, let's face it, despite Sanchez's struggles in the minors, he's remained a top 50ish prospect in baseball so it's not just homerism at work here, some watch him pitch and think he's a few tweaks away from being very good.
Anyway...
How did the team "gift" Pompey a roster spot in CF?
Also, has anyone actually looked at what the makeshift OF has given the team overall?
I'd be interested in finding out, but me too lazy/dumb to look them up. I doubt defense has been much of an issue this season.
I suspect the team may have been waiting to get at least Reyes's bat back in lineup to help mitigate Joey Bats's possible absence.
If my suspicion is true, I doubt Bautista plays this week unless they get some good results from the cortisone shot. This would be to be able to back-date him to Saturday.
It be a pissing contest. He has shown improvement. However, he was so bad that it's hard for some to get excited.
Basically, both camps are right, but some hate the F/O and others are homers so these biases get in the way.
I could be wrong though...as shocking as it may seem.
So who will get sent down/dfa'ed to make room for Reyes? I guess Tolleson, but a Kawasaki/Tolleson platoon would be the best option at 2B.
We'll find out soon.
Man, it's been over a month since Bautista's been DH'ing. He missed 5 games and then started dh'ing exclusively. I bet he'd be back by now had they DL'ed him.
