    That's the big thing. The aces or #2s that are available will likely be rentals. When you look at where this team is at, I'd rather go for some cheap rentals in-season and go hard after some of the FA SP in the off season to lead the staff and have the young guys as depth. On the other hand, I doubt the Jays are at the top of any FA's list.

    Of course the hitting won't keep up this pace, just like the pitching wasn't as s***** as it was earlier in the season. We'll see what they do, if anything.

    That's the thing, I'd rather first go after salary dump type of guys and give up less. You need cheap, controllable depth like Boyd and DSJ could provide. Yeah, that's where I don't want to go. Given what AA gave up for Dickey, I think he'll give up more than that, likely Norris.

    I know, but I thought I read somewhere that they were trying to deal Gee and Niese. On the other hand, I don't want AA dealing with Alderson again...

    That was a good thread and should've made this thread unnecessary. It was probably derailed by the jokes about the mistake on the original title (i.e. "2016" instead of "2015"). Definitely agree on targeting Ian Kennedy types. Sort of like McCarthy last year.

    Jays4Life16 made a similar post and suggested Ian Kennedy and that seems about right. Agreed with both. I'm not into this window thing, let's focus on a sustainable model, which is what AA talked about before he gained so much weight. Your point about how difficult it is for the Jays to attract top FA SP is also a good one and I hope AA doesn't make another Marlins/Dickey trade because of it.

    They could DL Sanchez to get around the 10-day rule. And then activate Sanchez for his next start, if he actually is healthy which could turn out not to be the case.

    I'm sure Beane would be looking for more from Blue Jays than any other team to make up for the Donaldson trade.

    Good to get him in the system this year. I'd guess he'll be assigned to Vancouver.

    Correct. And Seattle was looking to trade him because of his oft-injured past, at least to a significant extent. 2 years of control also. Plus, signing a FA LF would've cost way more. All in all, I'm happy with Saunders+Estrada+Smoak+savings over Cabrera/FA LF+Happ+Lind at a higher payroll.
