  1. Ideally, neither would I. However, I want to see the Jays give their prospects AAA time, especially a guy like Hutchison who's coming off TJS and only threw 55 or so innings in 2013. Maybe Redmond can pitch like he did last year or McGowan/Romero could come out of nowhere and grab a spot, but I want guys like Hutchison, Stroman and Nolin to have some AAA time before they're called up.
  2. 3-way deal: Mariners get Viciedo and Sierra. Jays get Franklin. White Sox get Ackley.
  3. Agreed. Stroman threw 115 or so innings in 2012 between college and minors. In 2013 he had 123 IP between AA and AFL + whatever # of innings he threw in extended ST as he served his suspension. He should be good to throw 160 innings. Hutchison should be on a limit no doubt. I'd like to see both these guys be sent to AAA even if it meant Happ and Rogers as 4 and 5. If they get Santana, then Happ at #5 is fine, although I'd love it if they traded him.
  4. That's the Blue Jays team....according to some at least!
  5. It's all nonsense. If Santana wants to play with Bautista, Reyes and EE, he can simply accept the offer the Jays have reportedly made to him. It's not a bad offer at all, in fact, the Jays are offering more than they should. I wouldn't be surprised if, after reading their players comments, the Jays up their offer because they're so pr-conscious and the casuals will probably throw a tantrum if they don't get this guy, especially if it's over a million or 2.
  6. The comment I sort of liked the most was from Lind regarding Hutchison and Stroman being given more development time. It wasn't all good though as he said he wanted to see Romero and Hutchison as the 4 and 5, lol. As far as Reyes, EE and Bautista being friends with Santana and wanting the team to sign him, well, it should work both ways, shouldn't it? I mean, if Santana wants to play with his friends on the Blue Jays, all he has to do is accept the offer the Jays have reportedly made to him. The 2 offers are reportedly quite similar, one guarantees him 14M, the other one 13M + incentives. The Jays are actually offering more because they stand to lose a 2nd round draft pick while the Orioles only lose a 3rd rounder.
  7. If they sign him, some will complain that it's bad value. If they don't, some will complain that they should've. LOL. Just keep the prospects, draft picks and start to blow it up mid season and into the off season.
  8. I probably should've. That was Morosi's column from today so I would think he got the quote today, but who knows.
  9. Some of the things he said are true, namely that it's not the same because Josh Johnson was a big part of why the Jays were considered contenders. Over all though, you're right that he should stick to doing all his talking on the field.

  11. Apparently, Bautista is openly campaigning for the Jays to sign Santana. Ok, Jose, if you're willing to cut your salary by 2M, they can offer that much more to Santana.
  12. Not making a decision by his own deadline shows Santana may not be good under pressure...Jays should pull their offer off the table.
  13. One good thing to come out of this already is that even Shi Davidi put AA on the spot saying there's no excuse for the Jays now. Even the guy at DJS said if they don't get him, AA and Beeston should be fired. Now, I wish they would call out the FO for other reasons, but at least it puts pressure on them. I wonder if Davidi will have a job tomorrow though.
  14. He probably wants to give other teams a chance to come in or maybe they'll now try for a 2 or 3 year deal who knows.
  15. Who knows how these guys think. You would think 14M guaranteed would be better than 13M plus incentives, depending on what types of incentives of course, but who knows.
  16. Well, it seems they have the same agent, but will not play for the same team.
  17. Yup, that's why I want Hutchison and Stroman to get more AAA innings. I think that's an added benefit for signing Santana for a year, but I wouldn't go above 14M. Nolin is another guy I will continue to follow.
  18. Not me, I'm looking forward to the minor league season as well as the AAA rotation and when a couple of them get called up. I also look forward to the tear down, AA is supposed to be good at that.
  19. However, expect the casuals to lose their s*** on twitter after Santana goes to the Orioles for a million or 2 more than the Jays offered, lol. I'm ok with it. As long as they keep the few remaining upper-minors prospects and get closer to blowing it up mid-season.
  20. 14M is more than I would've offered. The Jays shouldn't increase that offer at all, let the Orioles get him.
  21. What signing, haven't you heard, the O's are now favorites to get him.
  22. My money's on another team swooping in and beating the offer, if they do offer 15M or more, let them have him.
  23. The fact that Santana was now willing to take a 1-year deal is what did it.
