  1. The touted pitching in Lansing has been a bust so far. It's early though.
  2. I get that, no doubt. I was fine with him being pulled from the game yesterday, but he had a decent outing. I think we should remember that he only made 10 or so starts last year and he's likely rusty and will take some time to get back to his 2012 comfort zone, although I don't see the same stuff that he showed that year. If he can stay healthy and pitch like a #3, that would be fine by me. Realistically though, he'll be a #4 as I just think the injuries have taken a toll on his stuff.
  3. Another thing, was Morrow really that terrible? I mean, I think the 4th was a tough inning for him, but I thought he had a decent game going. I just mention this because it seems some are saying the starting rotation is to blame for not going deeper into games, but how can they go longer in games if they don't get the chance? The one exception is Dickey who's given a longer leash. Anyway...
  4. You got your wish. However, this likely means he'll throw a shutout against the Jays on Saturday. Be careful what you wish for.
  5. Another way in which the team shot itself in the foot yesterday was Reyes giving away an out with a baserunning blunder. I think Cabrera and Bautista followed up with walks, but EE struck out to end the inning. Now, maybe Cabrera and Bautista wouldn't have gotten on base, but you never know, they may have scored an extra run there. Who knows, with a 3-run lead, Gibbons may have given Morrow a longer leash. Anyway....
  6. Disappointing loss to say the least. A little confused by Gibbons. He seems to have a quick hook on some guys, but not on others. Cecil was used for one out and 2 pitches in the night game against Minny. Delabar followed Cecil and was pulled after he walked 2 batters. Today, he ended up using Cecil anyway in the 7th to get 1 out and to keep the Jays within 2 runs. I don't know why he wouldn't use Cecil to try to keep the Jays in the lead in the 6th. The offense also could've scored more, but guys like EE, Rasmus and Lawrie aren't hitting so that doesn't help. Anyway, they need to win 4 of 6 in the homestand.
  7. I agree, but I thought they had a chance at getting Thole.
  8. What happened to the hit-and-run with Thole and Goins? LOL.
  9. Morrow went back to the fastball. He's been throwing way too many offspeed pitches early in games and I think I read in ST that Walker wanted his pitchers to do this. Morrow won't regain command of his fastball unless he throws it. I think the stats show that Morrow's fastball usage has declined over the last 2 years under Walker.
  10. I think you mean after the draft when there won't be a draft pick attached to him.
  11. So the Jays already have as many wins this season as they had in all of April last season with 10 days left in the month.
  12. This looks like a game in which the Jays will have to score a ton of runs to win. Cleveland has a good offense with tons of LHH and Morrow might be the perfect pitcher to bust out against.
  13. I think we all would as well. Who knows, at this point Boras may have decided to wait till after the draft 'cause if a team signed him right now, it would still have to give up a draft pick and would also not have the possibility of getting one back with a QO.
  14. I guess this time the owner in Detroit isn't stepping in to override the FO and sign Drew. The Tigers probably look at that division and think they can make do until a cheaper option becomes available. I think Drew will end up signing after the draft.
  15. Apparently, Nova felt discomfort earlier in the game, but didn't say anything 'cause he wanted to stay out there and be tough. Who knows, wish him a good recovery.
  16. They just need a #5 (Happ?), which is what Nova was for them given how good their rotation has looked. I think they'll find someone.
  17. I'm surprised Dr. Andrews isn't taking the rest of the year off, he's performed a year's worth of TJS in the first 4 months of this year. It's crazy really.
  18. Don't know if posted yet, but here's some news on Nova's injury: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/ivan-nova-headed-to-dl-with-partial-tear-of-ucl?ymd=20140419&content_id=72697564&vkey=news_mlb
  19. Buehrle's pitching style is going to make him look lucky because he's a contact pitcher and also pitches on the corners. Hutchison's start was good, except that he threw close to 100 pitches in his 5+ IP. He was unlucky with that Kipnis IF single before the Santana HR. Without that IF single, Santana may not have hit the HR. Anyway...
  20. Boyd tonight: 6IP, 3H, 1ER, 3BB, 9K. Looks to me like he should be in AA. Arguably Norris too, but at least Boyd. They can then promote Graveman from Lansing to Dunedin, but who knows. The guy is 23, maybe he's another Sean Nolin. We'll see what happens.
