  1. Doesn't really apply, IMO, because he wasn't a guy drafted by the Blue Jays like Gomes. I don't really hold Chavez against the Jays. If I'm not mistaken, he's been in several organizations. Plus, it's not like the A's picked him up and put him in their rotation, he's in their rotation because of injuries and kudos to him for taking advantage of the opportunity. Gomes said that Cleveland called him after they acquired him and flat out told him they viewed him as a catcher. This tells you the Jays had no clue what they had in him. Anyway, s*** happens, it's not the end of the world.
  2. So what's the point of keeping the out-of-options guys like Redmond and Rogers if they're not gonna use them?
  3. I don't think it'll be a Happy game on Tuesday. Them Red Sox got swept by them Tigers. They be pissed.
  4. I can't remember exactly, but I think he had some decent numbers in the minors that would look good for a catcher. Regardless, like you say and I've been trying to point out, the FO gets paid to know these things. All this started with me joking about how AA has a reliever fetish and absent this fetish, he would've likely not dealt for Rogers...but anyway.
  5. Problem is, the Jays already have a platoon LH bat in Lind. Let's hope AA can trade Lind for a young 2B with some upside. I know it happens, but as I said, it's the organization's job to know what they have and there's nothing wrong with looking back at a FO's track record in trades and talent evaluations.
  6. I imagine this is in reference to my posts about Gomes. Show me where I claimed I knew how he'd turn out and I'll give you a prize. Fact is, I said it shouldn't have taken Aviles and Gomes to get a relief pitcher. Another issue is that it's fine for fans not to know how good a player is, especially when they haven't seen much of him. However, it's not fine for a team not to know what they have in a player. Does it happen? Yes it does to even well-run organizations, but the fact that it does happen around the league doesn't exempt any organization from criticism. Anyway....too late now.
  7. One of these days Gibbons will understand that it's better to yank his Dickey too early than too late.
  8. Way to treat your top pitching prospect, bury him in the BP and tell him you trust more a 25 year old with a career ERA over 6. #HDMH though, so the StroShow won't be denied...even by a dumb GM/manager.
  9. I think several posters called it a panic move at the time in reference to the blown leads by the bullpen against Pittsburgh which is who they were playing at the time. I said at the time, if they wanted to call up a late-inning reliever, call up Stilson who's being developed as a closer.
  10. Not really, it'll be reason to celebrate....a new lifetime contract for Beeston and AA.
  11. Well, it's pretty clear Happ will be in the rotation for a while. The spot that Stroman will hopefully take will be the one vacated by McGowan.
  12. Yeah, but AA said the opposite yesterday, see my post above.
  13. From the donkey's mouth:
  14. Hit the ball hard, but it hung for Rios...it's been one of those games.
  15. I agree, I'll take 2 of 3 on the road every time. They scored 2 runs on Friday, 4 yesterday and 2 so far today. The pitching carried them and today the defense joined the offense in laying an egg.
  16. I won't blame Francisco for his s***** play today, he is what he is.
  17. Dickey's looking more and more like a 6-inning pitcher and Gibbons needs to realize it.
  18. So why didn't Gibbons bring in Loup or Cecil to face Moreland last inning? Yes, it's hindsight, but it just seems Gibbons always leaves Dickey in the game too long.
  19. You're right, they've played 20 games in a row without a day off and have scored 5, 4, 4, 2, 4 and 2 in their last 6 games including this one.
  20. f***in' Reyes made Lawrie drop that, ump with a pity out call.
  21. Redmond hadn't pitched since May 10th, I can't say I blame him.
  22. They're gonna skip the 5th starter's turn with the off day tomorrow so Happ will start at Fenway.
  23. Yup, they've been shut down by Ross yesterday and Martinez today, Seitzer needds to wake up.
