  1. I'd add Walker to the list. Let's face it, if the team's pitching was anywhere as bad as last year, we'd be calling for his head and mustache to go. Heck, I think there was a thread calling for his firing in Apr.
  2. I think the team feels they owe Dickey because of what they gave up to get him. I never understood why they automatically gave him the OD start again this year, but anyway, that's probably nitpicking.
  3. I won't blame Dickey for AA's decision to trade for him as an ace. I think he gets paid for what he is as a pitcher, at least in the A.L. I do think Gibbons gives him too much of a leash. I don't think Hutchison, for example, would've been allowed to face Castellanos tonight, but I could be wrong.
  4. I agree, but it's the way they run things. I think it also happened with Rios.
  5. I personally don't count Escobar against AA although I do count him him against the way the organization is run above AA. I really think AA had to either release him and eat his contract or find someone to take him so they wouldn't have to eat the $$.
  6. At the end of the day, Jays decided they didn't want to wait for all these players to hopefully arrive and establish themselves at the MLB level at the same time. I think most of us know that they overpaid to try to contend now. If they make the playoffs, it'll be less painful. We'll see what happens.
  7. No doubt. Bullpen could become a bigger hole if Santos doesn't come back and Cecil's recent shoulder soreness turns into anything more serious. My bigger fear is AA overpaying for middle relief help.
  8. I doubt anyone wants him back as closer. I think we hope he can pitch like he did last season as a set-up guy as it would strengthen the BP.
  9. I say it because of Santos's injury history. He already had a setback recently, but I hope I'm wrong as I think he'd be much better as a 7/8th inning guy.
  10. I think Bundy will be left in the minors to finish the year. He underwent TJS in late June 2013 after being originally shut down in March 2013. He's pitched around 100 total innings as a pro (2012). I do agree the O's shouldn't be discounted, but the same applies to the whole division. Lots of divisional games left to be played.
  11. Delabar isn't walking batters because he wants to. His mechanics are probably off so this is preventing him from hitting his spots. If it was as simple as saying "I will paint the outside corner with every pitch", Aaron Sanchez would be the #1 pitching prospect in baseball.
  12. All 3 would be welcome additions. Morrow over Happ. Santos over Jenkins. Rasmus over Gose/Pillar. None would fetch anything interesting in return, IMO. Morrow and Santos are often injured and Rasmus is a FA in the off season. I think the Jays would be better off with the reinforcement they would provide. I have to mention that I have strong doubts that either Morrow and/or Santos pitch again for the Blue Jays, I suspect they're done for the year.
  13. So he's closing in on missing a full month. He played in 118 games last year and has already missed close to a month this year. I would think this would hurt his value in FA. A QO would presumably also hurt him. We'll see what happens, hopefully he's back soon at 100%
  14. When the heck is Rasmus coming back anyway?
  15. Also, not to nitpick, but can we stop mentioning Nolin as a bullpen option at this point? He will be in the mix for a rotation spot next ST as I'm sure Happ's option won't be picked up. He should continue starting once he's back from his injury.
  16. Gibbons has already started using Delabar in lower leverage situations and he continues to struggle. He certainly has to pitch to work out his issues. I was thinking he might need to work out his issues at Buffalo as I watched him implode yesterday, but like others have pointed out, Buffalo has been decimated by injuries lately. It certainly shows in their record as they are now under .500. I hope they don't get pissed at the Jays and hold it against them when time comes to renew their deal.
  17. I suspect we've seen Santos throw his last pitch for the Blue Jays unless they bring him back on a cheap 1-year deal for 2015. Basically, we have to hope Walker helps Delabar fix his mechanical issues. I remember reading something during ST where Delabar had worked with some pitching guru in the off season to fix his mechanics. The issue was that he was flying open the fastball was running high and into RHB. This is exactly what his issue is. Either the fastball runs high and in on RHB or low and away.
  18. Lowrie with an Ribeye 2B. 4-2 A's
  19. Yup. That's what pissed me up about Delabar's performance. Delabar's struggles actually scare me in terms of AA overpaying for middle relief. I was thinking it might be helpful to send Delabar down to Buffalo, but then I remembered Buffalo has been decimated by injuries.
  20. If Kratz was catching, Hutchison would've gone 9 and struck out at least 12.
  21. I'm certainly glad the Jays already played Cleveland 6 times, that team's starting to get hot.
