  1. It's ok, take the series tomorrow and that's very good. Take 2 of 3 from the Twins and that's just fine going into Camden Yard.
  2. It's not luck when it's the Cards doing it. They teach that in their minor league system. Rasmus never got it so they shipped him to the Jays.
  3. Well said, he should've dove there, even if he had no chance to get the runner...lots of people in the stands, diving all over the cement field is the least they should expect on every single play.
  4. Good to see Nolin back for Buffalo even though he didn't have a great outing: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K.
  5. For some weird reason I think I've seen this posted before....must be my imagination.
  6. Agreed on all counts. Rangers overpaid and set a bad precedent. I also agree on KC likely not being so far out of the WC race to give up on the season. They can qualify him and either get him back or get a draft pick. People forget to take into account what the 2nd WC has done for competitiveness. KC is 2.5 behind and even the Rays are "only" 8 games out. In the NL, the D-Backs are 7 out.
  7. I'm really glad the replay guys in NY made the right call. I really felt bad for the kid, he was just trying to catch a foul ball.
  8. We all love Stroman's slider/curveball, but it starts with his ability to put the fastball low and on the corners. Yes, he was missing his spots in the first 2 innings, but he corrected his mechanics and got stronger as the game went on. Lawrie's coming around, he hit 3 rockets on fastballs tonight.
  9. Too bad on Syndergaard, we'll have to wait and see how serious the injury is, but at least it's his non-throwing wing.
  10. Isn't The Hurl at that game in Vegas? Must be heart-broken. Good thing there's lots to do in that hick town.
  11. Good stuff. I'd just say that they've already faced some adversity and I liked the way they responded. Remember, they blew quite a few games within a 2 week span. In fact, when they blew the 2nd game against the Pirates on May 3rd, they fell to 13-17. Since then, they've gone 24-7. I think that shows some resiliency.
  12. Welcome scenario: Happ goes 15-7, AA picks up his option and trades him in the offseason for something nice.
  13. I don't know if those are real, but they're certainly spectacular.
  14. A bit off topic, but it bothers me the way these guys spit all over the dugout. It ends up looking like a pig sty at the end of games. I don't know how it is in MiLB, but if it's like in MLB, it may tell you a little bit about these guys.
  15. I guess Rasmus is still day to day.
  16. I can agree with you, but let's face it, they've put themselves in a contending position with an aging core and they need another starter, ideally, a top 3 starter. My hope is they find a guy young enough to be around for a few seasons.
  17. Depending on who the Jays draft today (and sign), it could make it easier for them to part with Sanchez and/or Norris.
  18. I don't doubt that it's tough in the minors, but after a while, it's up to each individual to move on once you see the odds are against you. Time to move on and go into a different line of work. I think the MLBPA could help out a lot by spreading the wealth. Let's face it, they have it well enough that they could afford it.
  19. I think they're hoping he can be better than he's been so they keep giving him the chance to go 7. This has happened several times where he's pitched pretty well for 5 innings, to his credit, only to basically fall apart in the 6th or 7th. What I don't get is how Gibbons keeps him out there when he's seen him make a mess of an inning several times. As I've said before, no other starter gets the rope he gets.
  20. Right now, they have 3 guys you shouldn't use in high leverage spots; Redmond, Jenkins and Delabar. He'll have no choice though, it's just not feasible to use the same guys. It's too bad both Wagner and Stilson are hurt or they would be better options than Jenkins.
  21. Is up by 5 a high leverage situation? Gibbons is already doing this, but there will be times when he has no choice but to bring him into a tough spot. In order for Delaball to fix his mechanics, he'll have to pitch and this may come with a blown lead or 2.
