  1. Santos pitched an inning yesterday for NH and gave up 3ER, but struck out 2 so he pitched great.
  2. Let's face it, that bottom of the lineup is pretty weak. It should be a platoon bottom 3, but today Tolleson is in there to boost the defense. I guess Gibbons is reacting to Francisco's defensive mistake yesterday, but I don't see how 1 play should cancel out this platoon when Tolleson is so bad against RHP.
  3. It's Navarro and the D's fault.
  4. I could be mistaken, but Gose's low OBP is probably more a result of a low BA than a low BB%. I think you should check his BB% to confirm or disprove this. He also has a high K% in the minors, again, if IIRC.
  5. Maybe Shulman had the Olympics in mind?
  6. Interesting that another poster thinks they were too patient and took hittable pitches. When a team is hitting well, it usually means they are swinging at the hittable pitches and taking balls and tough strikes. They probably got into a funk the last 3 games. I include Friday's game because while they got on base quite a bit, there were also some worrisome signs. Anyway, take 2 of 3 against the Twinkies and then 7 games against the AL East.
  7. Well, no one would disagree with your point. After all, can't win if you don't score. However, BS strikes called against you changes counts and at bats and can have an impact on. Anyway, on to the next series.
  8. 1st series lost in the last 8 or 9. Win 2 of 3 against Minny and it would put them 13 over .500 heading into Baltimore. 2 shutouts in a row should be used by coaches and Gibbons to keep them grounded and focused.
  9. Aaron Sanchez today: 6.2IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 7K, 10 GO/2 AO, 60 strikes of 92 total pitches thrown. Updated.
  10. Aaron Sanchez today: 6IP, 3H, 1ER, 1BB, 7K, 81 pitches thrown. We'll see if he goes out for the 7th.
  11. I'm hoping it's a mechanical issue. Maybe he's not comfortable on the RC mound and that throws off his mechanics. He certainly doesn't seem to have the command that he shows on the road.
  12. Yeah, but they go overboard. Today, Hutchison didn't get some calls and there were a couple of sliders right on the low outside corner that Kratz gave up on. If it had been Navarro catching, he would've gotten killed. Umps are inconsistent and make a lot of bad calls. Most of my post was about Hutchison and his struggles since he threw 109 pitches at Philly, but especially at home. Anyway...
  13. I know, but so many here blame Navarro any time a starter struggles when he's catching, it was just a shot at them.
  14. Good thing Kratz is catching today if not, everyone would be blaming pikachu for Hutchison's struggles and since it can't possibly be that Kratz had anything to do with it, at least we'll take a look at what's going on with Hutchison in a more objective way. I have said before that I didn't like it when Hutchison was allowed to throw 109 pitches against the Phillies on May 6, but maybe it's irrelevant. It's also worth pointing out that his bad starts have usually been at the RC and from watching him pitch there, he just doesn't seem to have the command we're accustomed to seeing from him. Hopefully, there's no injury forthcoming.
  15. Must be because Gray is short.
  16. Agreed. The 2nd WC does allow for more teams to be in the mix. Even the Rays with all their struggles came into today 8 games out of a WC spot. In the NL, the D-Backs were 7 out going into today. This is why I doubt a guy like Shields will be traded by the Royals unless it's a great package.
  17. Many thanks from me as well...heck of a job!
  18. No doubt, but it could be Santos even though I have my doubts as to whether he ever throws another pitch for the Blue Jays. If he's able to come back, he will strengthen the bullpen. If Delaball can raise the bar again, that would be great. John Stilson could be another option so hopefully his injury isn't too serious. We'll see what happens.
  19. Pretty tough to win without scoring a run. Yesterday they put guys on but couldn't get them home. Today, they've been shut down so nothing you can do. Hopefully, they get to Garcia tomorrow only thing is that Hutchison has struggled at the RC.
  20. Loup is no longer being used strictly as a loogy anymore. I do agree though, he's over 20 pitches now.
  21. So the Blue Jays have a new found fetish with C I guess.
