Oh, and Sabres fire Regier and Rolston, replacing them with LaFontaine (temporarily) and... TED NOLAN!

Seems we are possibly one step closer to isolating individual play in hockey.
  3. There's this tweet from that same guy from months ago: Not sure what to make of this Bautista rumour.

Jays got SOMETHING for Yunel. Leafs let Grabovski go for nothing except cap space to sign Blowzak and David "Not Wendel" Clarkson.

Emery is such a bloody moron.
  10. So we're gonna be constantly hearing about how this C+ prospect has the potential to become Rickey Henderson now?

Generally, yes. I think the Leafs still will likely regress, but I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts.

$7 M for Phaneuf might not be as bad as it seems once you adjust for inflation and other factors.

Well, you have to factor in the Nonis Constant. What is the Nonis Constant, you say? Well, it is basically the average salary he signed Tyler Bozak to minus Bozak's more realistic value (~800 K). Therefore, the Nonis Constant is: $4.2 M - $0.8 M = 3.4 As such, once you factor in the Nonis Constant, Phaneuf's potential contract looks far more reasonable: $7 M - 3.4 = $3.6 M See? In fact, taking this into consideration, $7 M is rather cheap.

Moulson and Vanek have similar numbers over the past 3 seasons (mind you, Moulson did it with JT, but he's still good). They are similar in age and similar contract lengths (though, Vanek is far more expensive). Plus, a 1st in 2014 (which could be a high first if the Islanders continue playing the way they are) and a 2nd in 2015. The f***?

Dellow mentioned goalie WAR in past articles (which you can read here). I've used it a few times based on his methods, as well as a WAR for forwards/defencemen by using average 13th forwards/7th defencemen as the replacement player. Still a work in progress, however.

I wouldn't replace Ranger with Fraser, but I'm not Randy Carlyle.

Andreas Johnson, too: 15 GP, 8 G, 14 P in a league of grown men. Doing better than first round pick Alex Wennberg (6 P in 15 GP) and 2nd round pick Sebastian Collberg (3 P in 10 GP) on the same team.
