The Olympic qualification aspect is another reason why the Taillon decision was so stupid. I’m not convinced Whitt was even aware of how important it was to limit USA to as few runs as possible, even in a loss. Baseball canada just feels very unserious

I think the team should be willing to burn Soroka and Taiilon here, then figure out the semi-final if they somehow win the game. Soroka 3-4 Taillon 3-4 Paxton cleans up the rest. That's at least all MLB quality arms. Those guys are capable of shutting down any lineup, even if its very unlikely.

He'll definitely get a camp invite if he wants one. Lefties who throw 96-97 with a great slider don't grow on trees. I'd like to see him give relieving a go. Just air it out for an inning at a time.
