  1. You should spend like 15 minutes less a day reading about politics on the internet and devote that time to a hobby that can actually feel rewarding sometimes. Like fantasy baseball.
  2. I thought we agreed not to do that, because it would encourage tanking the playoffs once eliminated?
  3. Pretty sure he’s not changing anything.
  4. Just looked it up, and we have been applying the lottery all through the draft. I'm not sure there's actually a reason for that though, beyond it being a case of 'the first guy who did it did it that way, so we always have'. I think it makes more sense to do it NHL style going forward (maybe after this season) - why spend 3-4 rounds punishing a poor sap like boxy who finishes last, and gets the 4th overall pick?
  5. Regarding the draft order, here's the way it was done this year. I'm not sure exactly how it went in 2016: - order followed the reverse order of regular season standings (using winning percentage and disregarding division titles) - bottom 5 teams were in the lottery with the following odds: 16 - 1 ball 17 - 2 balls 18 - 3 balls 19 - 4 balls 20 - 5 balls - the lottery is only for the first round, and the order reverts back to reverse regular season order for rounds 2-6 Anyone opposed to adding these pieces to the league rules so that we know exactly how things will run going forward?
  6. Another thing that came up in BORED - is the lottery just for the top-5 picks, or for slots the entire draft? When I did the BORED lottery, it was only for the top-5 picks, and then other rounds reverted to regular season draft order for all 20 teams. This is how the NHL does their lottery, and seems intuitive to me.
  7. I thought it was 16-20 in a lottery, and everyone else according to regular season finish.
  8. I was being charitable. I'm no longer interested in Hoffman, Matz, or Odorizzi in this format.
  9. Aside from one of Ramos/Zunino, I'm looking to move Kole Calhoun for either a prospect or similarly valuable SP.
  10. 1B - Bird SS - Bregman CF - Zimmer OF - Puig OF - Benintendi Util - Olson SP - Berrios/Hendricks/Anderson/Odorizzi/Matz/Hoffman RP - Devenski/Holland Boxy, you should cut the fat from your roster, acquire an ace, 3B, and 2B, and go for it this year. There's no reason for that team to toil close to 20th place unless you spend another season rostering the Valencias/Reeds/Diaz's/Pearces of the world. That's a good team!

That’s fine, but indications are that Turris was demanding more than 6x6 from them. There’s a way for this to play out in such a way that Duchene becomes a long term core piece on a fair contract. Granted, anything but that scenario and this deal looks bad.
  12. You’re right, I’m sure all the systems will have Garcia at 4 WAR and a wRC+ over 130 next year.
  13. 36 now You have to think Refsnyder and Maile are next up.
  14. I have all the best fake words.
  15. Sure. But projecting Garcia for a wRC+ in the 130s and around 4 wins is completely unreasonable. I bet no projection systems do it!
  16. He’ll pribavly stay in STL. They just didn’t want to pay the projected 7.8M arb salary.
  17. Two year deal with a cheap 2018 plz. Get it done Shatkins.
  18. That seems decidedly unreasonable to me.
  19. Yeah, that’s what I dug up too. Really like this.
  20. GB guy who at least used to have legit stuff. I wonder if a move to the pen can help him stay healthy and help the stuff play up.
  21. Same. He has intriguing upside. Any idea if he has option years left?
  22. Raffy Lopez, Leonel Campos, Luis Santos, Taylor Cole outrighted
  23. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/blue-jays-claim-taylor-guerrieri-from-rays-outright-four-players.html
  24. Why is Clayton Richard ranked 22nd on that list?
  25. I see a 2.5% increase in FB rate, small improvements to PD stats that probably don't support a 4-5% drop in K-rate, and similar contact quality to what he did in 2016. If I'm looking for a driver for his big 2017, the 0.392 BABIP - 72 points higher than the career 320 mark he had entering the year - looks like far and away the biggest reason for his success. His steamer projection (111 wRC+, league average player) seems pretty reasonable to me.
