I feel like they're wasting his talent using him as a 2-way player if 2018 is his true talent level. A 140 wRC+ with 70 and an 80 arm should be starting in RF 6 days a week and putting up monster seasons without subjecting himself to the risks associated with pitching.

You answered the question here: It's interesting that Granderson cleared waivers because he might be the player on the roster most likely to be traded, and him clearing changes the dynamic of an August trade for him. Also, I was trying to start a discussion because the forum has been completely dead for most of August. Anyone posting here in August with the team on pace for 72 wins understands the waiver system. Screeching about it like we're a bunch of casuals losing our s*** because someone like Stroman got claimed is silly.

I don't really like that so many reports have the team wanting to trade him. He's unlikely to return much value, and at this point the team has three options on the table if they keep him: - He could accept the QO, which would be great. - He could reject the QO and return compensation. This is likely more valuable than his trade return at this point. - The two sides could work out a deal outside the parameters of the QO, either a 1-year deal or even a multi-year deal that's much cheaper than he would have signed 5 months ago. I don't really understand the hurry to move him in the next two weeks.
