  1. Cool, keep us posted
  2. I’m really over watching Estrada pitch. Give me a couple of the other shitbags please.
  3. I've been called a dumbass twice now despite being nothing but respectful. Pretty sure Spanky is on a bender lol.
  4. When you told Jim he was emphatically wrong for saying the opener isn't good for MLB business.
  5. How? I have a hard time seeing how a parade of relievers is more appealing to casuals than the classic pitching matchup.
  6. What won't? Expanded rosters, or a continued shift towards bullpen games? The former seems pretty likely based on everything I've read, and the latter seems inevitable under the current rules because it maximizes the efficiency of rosters. I think that the only way we see the trend slowed down is incentivizing teams to get as many innings as possible out of their starter.
  7. Talks about the next CBA always seem to point to 26 or 27-man rosters coming eventually. With teams already using 8-man bullpens, that would turn 9-man pens into the norm. I don't think we'd be far away from it being the norm to see 2-3 slots in most rotations being bullpen games. That just doesn't appeal to my tastes at all.
  8. Why is he an ******* if he doesn't like the aesthetics of the direction the game is going? The opener, combined with talk of expanded rosters, is going to push the game in the direction of a majority of games being pitched by a bunch of relievers throwing less than 2 innings each. It's 100% a matter of subjective taste: what do you enjoy watching? I don't like it either. I like the idea of a pitching matchup between two starters.
  9. I think they can probably do at least as good as Downs and Gray for Wood and Puig at the deadline. But I wouldn't be that surprised if one/both of those guys signs a multi-year extension instead of a 1-year arb deal.
  10. This is a very good deal for Cincinnati: out: Jeter Downs Josiah Gray Homer Bailey (owed 28M for 1 year) in: Yasiel Puig (owed ~12M for 1 year) Alex Wood (owed ~9M for 1 year) Matt Kemp (owed 21.8M for 1 year) 7M If you project Wood and Puig at around 2.5 wins each and Kemp and Bailey at around 0, they added 5 wins to their 2019 team at a total financial cost of about 8M. They do this at a cost of two guys likley in the 8-15 range of their prospect pool. And that's not even considering the potential comp picks they get. If Puig and Wood are healthy, they likely receive QOs.
  11. I think I probably speak for everyone when I say I trust your judgment, and if you think he'd be good and he wants to play, you should invite him.
  12. We'll have 3 new owners, and then whoever else wants to participate in the draft. Could be close to 10 teams.
  13. I’ve been in communication with him for a few weeks. Can confirm that a) he’s been lurking here for over two years, his accounts don’t raise any red flags in the mod software, and c) he communicates like a normal person. Given that we still need two owners and it’s almost January, I don’t really see any harm in rolling the dice.
  14. It does matter to some people though. I don’t like it.
  15. EZe is in. He’s been lurking the forum for years now.
  16. I would actually probably prefer that rule to having the opener become a thing for multiple rotation slots.
  17. The Facebook forum admins wouldn't let Jim post a recruitment thread. Anyone on Jays Reddit or have Jays fans following them on twitter?
  18. You only get to use a DH as long as your starting pitcher is still in the game.
  19. Both FG prospect guys are actually kinda dumb.
  20. Biggest fantasy boost of the offseason?
  21. Sanchez to the Nats for 2/19
  22. I really hope the team is respectable this year, because I don't want ownership either firing him or forcing him to expedite timelines. There's no doubt in my mind that Shapiro will build a powerhouse if allowed to do so.
  23. Cahill would have been a good get at that rate. Still some interesting names on 1-year deals who would likely be attracted to the opportunity afforded by our lack of depth: Shoemaker Buchholz Anderson Hellickson Holland Sanchez Santana Pomeranz I’d take a flier on any two of those guys.
  24. I have not seen anyone articulate a single valid reason for regulating the shift. Drop a goddamn bunt down the opposite field line if you're tired of grounding into the shift.
